IT Field Technician

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Field Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing technical support and ensuring the smooth operation of IT infrastructure across various locations. They will provide superior on-site support to a subset of Data-Tech customers in a complex network and/or hosting solutions environment. They will work closely with clients to troubleshoot systems and application incidents to provide the maximum availability and optimal Mean Time to Repair (MTTR). They will ensure the Service Department has all documentation necessary to understand and support their clients. This role requires strong communication skills, a customer-oriented mindset, and a solid understanding of computer systems and networks.
Responsibilities
Analyze existing networks and equipment and identify opportunities for improvement through the evaluation, testing, and validation of clients' IT systems, services, and/or software.
Provide on-site technical support for hardware and software issues across various operating systems including Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Manage computer systems and ensure proper functioning of IT infrastructure.
Troubleshoot software and hardware problems, including desktop support and VPN configurations.
Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintains computer systems, hardware, and computer peripherals.
Assist in the setup and maintenance of computer networks (LAN) and firewalls.
Identifies, analyzes, and repairs product failures.
Deliver exceptional customer service by effectively communicating with clients to understand their needs and provide timely solutions.
Document technical procedures and maintain accurate records of service requests.
Maintains parts inventory and orders/replaces parts as needed.
Collaborate with IT teams to optimize system performance and resolve complex technical challenges.

Experience with Windows 2008-2025 Server Operations.
Experience in server hardware builds and remediation.
Experience with Hyper-V virtualization
Experience using backup and recovery technologies.
Experience with firewalls, switches, and wireless infrastructure
Experience with Microsoft Exchange and email protocols
Experience with virus removal and system recovery
Ability to repair and recover from hardware or software failures
Advanced experience in Active directory and DNS concepts
Advanced experience in Microsoft RDS environments
Advanced understanding of network protocols and troubleshooting techniques.
Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts, including LAN setup and management
Experience in IT support roles with a focus on desktop support and software troubleshooting
Understanding of VPN technologies and firewall configurations
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly to non-technical users
Experience using help desk software preferred
Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma required
2 years of experience in general computer installation, maintenance/ repair, and off-site field work
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Must possess the mobility to work in a standard office setting (on site or off), and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, concentration to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and/ or over the telephone. Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to drive a motorized vehicle.
