About The PositionThe Research Associate II collects and enters study data under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. The Research Associate II has primary responsibility under the direction of the Principal Investigator for data extraction and entry in preparation for analysis.This is an on-site position assigned to the US Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases on Fort Detrick in Frederick. A thorough government background check will be required.About The ProjectBunyavirus and Picornovirus Pathogen Preparedness (BP4 Center)Compensation: $75,000 - $95,000QualificationsBachelor’s degree (Advanced degree preferred) or equivalent work experience required4-8 years’ experience in research preferred2-4 years non-profit, research, or healthcare experience desiredExperience working in BSL-3, BSL-4, ABSL-3 and ABSL-4 containment laboratoriesDemonstrate competence in oral and written communicationMust be organized, attentive to detail, and possess a positive, friendly and professional demeanorMust be flexible with changing priorities and able to communicate in a diplomatic and professional mannerComputer skills including at least intermediate level experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office SoftwareResponsibilitiesPromote safety and confidentiality of research participants at all timesAdhere to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Good Clinical Practices (GCP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and infection control proceduresPrepare research subjects (animal or human) for research studyExecute and maintain research studyManage study documentation to include accurate and timely filingPrepare progress reportsDocument all correspondence and communication pertinent to the researchInteract and communicate effectively with Principal Investigator, other site personnel, research participants, The Geneva Foundation, and the funding organizationProcure supplies and equipment as authorized per research budget guidelinesComply with all the rules and regulations as applicable to assigned duty stationAssist in all phases of the research project to include: recruit research participants, consent volunteers, administer questionnaires, prepare animal research, sanitize animal research areasCoordinate data collection schedules of all research team members,Monitor budgetsCreate and adhere to a data quality and quality assurance planAssist with interim and annual reports. S/he will be the primary liaison at the data collection site and will be responsible for explaining the project to military personnel associated with the studyMake travel arrangements for consultants, when neededSchedule and attend regular team meetingsAssist with the initial coding and data entry of structured questionnaires and data collection tools, when applicableDemonstrate proficiency in performing basic study related procedures (i.e., Vital Signs, ECG, phlebotomy, animal surgery) as requiredRecruit research participants, assist in enrollment and protocol procedures, monitor follow-up visits, oversee regulatory and administrative details, and provide data management assistance and project close-out support as applicableComplete required and applicable research training needed to complete researchMaintain and update files of all applicable regulatory documentation for IACUC or IRB (including protocols, approvals, amendments, modifications, etc.) as well as any communications with the sponsor or any other Federal or regulatory office (including prior approvals, change in scope, etc.)
