Business Title: System AdministratorLocation: San Jose, CA Job Type: 12+ months contract Job Responsibilities: Racking and Stacking Equipment: Physically install and organize network and server equipment in the lab environmentCabling and Cable Management: Manage and install twisted pair Ethernet cables (e.g, CAT6), fiber optic cables, and SFPs, ensuring neat and efficient cable managementServer BIOS Configuration: Configure server BIOS settings, including boot order and other necessary parametersOperating System Installation: Install and configure operating systems such as Linux and VMware ESXi on lab serversNetwork Configuration: Understand and apply basic network concepts including IP address management, subnetting, DHCP, and default gatewaysNetwork Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Utilize CLI and console access for network diagnostics; use tools such as ping, traceroute, packet capture, and Wireshark to troubleshoot network issuesBasic Server Hardware Troubleshooting: Diagnose and replace faulty hardware components such as disk drives, memory modules, and power supplies Skills & Experience Required: Bachelor's degree in relevant fieldProficiency in racking and stacking, cabling, server BIOS configuration, OS installation, and basic server hardware troubleshootingSolid understanding of basic network concepts such as IP address management, subnetting, DHCP, and default gatewaysComfort with CLI and console access; familiarity with tools such as ping, traceroute, packet capture, and WiresharkCertifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, CCNA, or similar are a plusPrevious experience working in a data center or server room and/or similar role
