This role involves daily engagement and interaction with clients, supporting them in all aspects of their daily support, accompanying them on outings, and providing transportation assistance. The Assistant Coordinator also takes a lead role in training new staff, manages complex client issues, and advocates for clients' needs. Essential skills include effective communication, problem-solving, and adaptability.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\n\nIn a manner consistent with supporting the Life Works mission statement and values, the Assistant Coordinator will be responsible for the following:\n\nAnticipates client needs and delivers high quality service\nMaintains regular communication with clients to ensure ongoing engagement\nAccompanies clients on outings and activities\nProvides transportation for clients per the Agency’s MVR review and test.\nLeads in providing necessary instructions, knowledge, and understanding of the support desired by clients as outlined in their Individualized Instructional Support Plans (IISP) and other support plans\nImplements, as written, positive behavior support plans (PSBP)\nFollows up on treatment plans, recommendations, and procedures for clients\nManages complex client issues, including behaviors, medical, family-related, and work-related matters\nAdvocates for clients, providing additional support to help them acquire personal needs and interact socially with family, friends, and the community\nAttends client service planning meeting\nAssists with rewriting or updating plans as needed\nTakes a lead role in managing the clients' money handling and budgeting processes, including writing checks for personal items, receiving and depositing funds, and verifying the accuracy of client check registers\nAssists with client medication management\nAttends medical appointments to address complex issues\nIdentifies and responds to clients' medical needs\nImmediately report any suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation to the appropriate state reporting agencies\nAdhere to all company policies\nCompletes all required documentation accurately and promptly, as directed by Life Works, the coordinator, or any other designated leader\nAdapts to various forms of communication, including ASL\nCommunicates promptly with leadership about changes that may affect staff or clients\nCommunicates program issues with the Program Coordinator or Director\nAssists with all staff training\nSupports the progress of new hires and evaluates the effectiveness of training\nIdentifies and addresses training needs requested or needed by staff\nManages weekly staff schedules proactively based on clients' needs and staff levels\nProvides backup coverage when needed at the program, such as during illnesses, vacations, and other emergencies\nPerforms on-call duties as needed, including weekends, to provide supervisory staff coverage\nOversees the duties of the program in the absence of a Program Coordinator\nPerforms indoor and outdoor cleaning tasks as needed around the program\nMeet all WAC state training requirements yearly\nParticipate and host mandatory scheduled staff meeting and agency required trainings\nMust maintain satisfactory attendance at regularly scheduled hours\nBe able to work a variety of shifts\nAdditional duties as assigned\n\nPOSITION REQUIREMENTS\n\nEDUCATION:\n\nMust possess a High School Diploma or equivalent\n\nRELATED EXPERIENCE:\n\nExperience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.\nLeadership experience preferred\n\nCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, OR REGISTRATIONS:\n\nMust obtain criminal clearances as required.
