The Business Litigation Section represents state agencies and officials in matters concerning the business of government and government regulation of business. We are recruiting motivated litigation professionals who want to work on interesting matters and in the public interest.DutiesUnder the direction of a Supervising Deputy Attorney General and the Senior Assistant Attorney General, the successful candidate for this position will perform a wide variety of paralegal duties in support of the section's litigation in state and federal trial and appellate courts. These include: Performing a variety of discovery-related tasks including organizing documents produced during discovery and drafting/reviewing responses to propounded discovery. Summarizing depositions, interview transcripts, and other documents. Preparing subpoenas and California Public Records Act requests. Performing research, including the review of case-related social media and legal research on Lexis and Westlaw. Working regularly with a variety of document management programs, including Prolaw, Relativity, TextMap, and others. Working cooperatively with client IT representatives to gather electronic records and with the Department’s electronic discovery unit to organize those records.
