KVAL/KMTR is looking for a detail-oriented, aggressive, energetic and creative full-time Assignment Editor with experience in a professional newsroom.Skills and Experience:Excellent Communication SkillsAssign and track news crewsIdentify and develop daily contentWrite and post content to station website and social media sitesCompelling and accurate AP-style writingListen to scanners and react to breaking news, make beat checks, monitor web sites and social media, react to developing newsDevelop and maintain contacts and sources to enterprise story ideasListen for and respond to breaking newsAssisting in the efficient operations of the assignment deskRequirements and Qualifications:Experience working in a professional newsroomCommitment to journalistic standards of ethics and accuracyAbility to communicate effectivelyBasic computer knowledge/word processing skillsGeneral knowledge and interest in local, national and world newsAbility to work well under pressure and meet deadlinesProficiency with YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and emerging social media platformsBachelor’s degree with a major in journalism is preferredSinclair is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and a drug free workplace.
