CampusOSU-StillwaterContact Name & EmailKim Southworth, kim.southworth@okstate.eduWork ScheduleMonday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm with occasional evenings and weekends.Appointment LengthRegular Continuous/Until Further NoticeHiring Range$65,000.00 - $90,000.00SalaryPriority Application DateWhile applications will be accepted until a successful candidate has been hired, interested parties are encouraged to submit their materials by 2026-06-24 to ensure full consideration.Special Instructions to ApplicantsFor full consideration, please include a resume, cover letter and contact information for three professional references.About This PositionUnder the direction of the Director of EHS, provides professional expertise in the operation of Environmental, Health and Safety programs to help ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, national consensus standards and OSU safety policies and procedures.Primary ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelinesPrepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safetyEvaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the lawConduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident preventionMonitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operationsInspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditionsInvestigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker's compensation claimsRecommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measuresReport on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics- Provide oversight of Occupational Safety programs including performing safety audits and inspectionsProvide consultation relative to Occupational SafetyParticipate in site safety meetingsKey Programs IncludeConstruction SafetyContractor SafetyGeneral SafetyTrenching/ShoringPowered Industrial TrucksConfined SpaceLOTOMachinery SafetyElectrical SafetyJob Hazard AnalysisAccident/Incident InvestigationWorkers CompensationOSHA 300 LogSafety TrainingSupervisory responsibilities: Three full-time staff.Regular exposure to physically demanding and hazardous tasks including walking for long periods of time, bending, stooping, lifting, standing, reaching, and climbing stairs and ladders.Must pass post-offer physical exam and be physically capable of wearing personal protective equipment.Must have the physical ability to access all levels of construction through use of construction equipment.Must be able to discern colors, read small print and ability to clearly communicate on the job-site.Due to communication expectations of the position, the incumbent will be required to carry a department-issued cell phone.Required QualificationsBachelor's Safety Engineering or related field (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)Three years of experience required working as a safety professional, an Industrial Hygienist and/or in Public Health work. Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses: Have before hire and maintain after hire a valid driver's license. A valid driver's license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job dutiesas assigned.Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED. If needed, certifications will be provided by the department within six months of employment.Additional recertifications will be provided throughout employment as required to remain up-to-date. Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge: Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work effectively with wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Expert knowledge of OSHA Regulations. Working knowledge of CDC and American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) Regulations and a working knowledge of the Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories (BMBL). Computer skills to include operation and utilization of various software programs including MS Office. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from University Personnel and others. Must pass pre-employment physical exam and be physically capable of wearing personal protective equipment. Preference will be given to applicants with a background in a research setting, especially in higher education. Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses: Certified Safety Professional (CSP).Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).Certified or eligible for ABSA (RBP or CBSP).Member/Associate of AIHA.
