Diesel Mechanic Helper

Basic Metals is expanding our maintenance department and looking to add some new members to our team! We're looking for a mechanic helper to help us with our trucking fleet today! Mechanic Helper Job Responsibilities: Assisting the head mechanic in diagnosing and repairing trucks, trailers, hilos; Maintains equipment operational by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting equipment deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; keeping good records. Mechanic Helper Job Duties Include: Assists in determining equipment condition by helping to conduct inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts. Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures. Verifies equipment performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems. Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. Keeps supplies ready by assisting with inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipts. Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Works together with fellow mechanics and operations staff to build healthy working relationships with other team members.
