The team’s vision is to empower every engineering team at Snowflake to ship confidently, experiment fearlessly, and innovate responsibly through a robust, observable and secure feature flagging platform. The accelerating pace of code and feature generation, driven by an AI-powered development lifecycle, demands that the feature flagging platform must rapidly scale and evolve to meet the needs of this new world. This platform is essential for safely and performantly controlling the enablement and disablement of these rapidly developed new features.\nIf you are passionate about solving complex infrastructure challenges, this opportunity may be for you.\nAS A STAFF SOFTWARE ENGINEER AT SNOWFLAKE, YOU WILL:\nLead, build and improve Snowflake’s feature flagging and experimentation platform.\nWork on complex framework and code which are used at various places in Snowflake’s engineering stack to control feature flags.\nBuild a deep understanding of Snowflake’s infrastructure and services.\nDemonstrate both infrastructure and software engineering expertise by contributing to the team charter to build and operate highly scalable, resilient, and performant infrastructure.\nWork on large and complex projects that build frameworks, platforms, tools, and automation which will serve and enable the various other engineering teams at Snowflake.\nPartner with various engineering teams at Snowflake to understand their tech stack and requirements, translate requirements into tangible projects with milestones and lead the team to design and implement the project\nBuild intuitive and resilient APIs and libraries for other developers as well as Snowflake customers.\nEvangelize and drive adoption of the Platform & Framework built by the team to meet business goals.\nSupport junior team members, contribute with excellent code quality, documentation, and software development best practices.\nOUR IDEAL STAFF SOFTWARE ENGINEER WILL HAVE:\n8+ years of experience in software engineering with a strong focus on distributed systems\nDeep experience building and operating large scale cloud services\nStrong programming skills in languages such as Java, Scala, C++, or Python\nSolid understanding of system performance, debugging, and reliability engineering principles\nExperience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP\nProven ability to lead complex technical projects and influence architecture decisions\nStrong problem solving skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment\nStrong sense of ownership and desire to build great tools & frameworks for other engineers.\nTremendous attention to detail and ability to build reliable and scalable software systems.\nEffective communication and collaboration skills.\nA strong work ethic, ability to self-manage and drive project success, and a passion for problem-solving.\nProven ability to lead and execute projects that begin with incomplete information or ambiguity requiring a need to drive clarity and consensus with various stakeholders.\nEvery Snowflake employee is expected to follow the company’s confidentiality and security standards for handling sensitive data.
