Sr. Social Media Manager
Overview
The Senior Social Media Manager owns the high-level social media strategy and performance for Wit & Wisdom and Democracy Clothing. This role sits above the Social Media Manager and is responsible for defining strategy, forecasting, reporting, recommendations, and paid media oversight. This is a senior leadership role focused on where, why, and how the brand shows up socially—not day-to-day posting or execution. The Senior Social Media Manager becomes a brand expert and provides clear direction to the Social Media Manager, ensuring strategy is executed consistently and effectively. A fashion, denim or lifestyle background is preferred.
Responsibilities:
Social Media Strategy & Ownership
Own and lead the overall social media strategy across all platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, emerging channels).
Define channel roles, content mix, cadence, and platform priorities aligned to brand and business goals.
Establish short- and long-term social roadmaps tied to campaigns, launches, and seasonal initiatives.
Take full ownership of high-level social decision-making and prioritization.
Develop and execute distinct social strategies for Democracy and Wit & Wisdom, ensuring each approach reflects the unique brand positioning, customer base, and business objectives.
Influencer Strategy (Full Ownership)
Own influencer strategy end-to-end
Partner with agencies (OI, LATER)
Vet talent and approve partnerships
Own briefs, creative direction, and KPIs
Oversee ambassador programs with outside partner
Analyze performance and optimize partnerships
Social Media Manager supports execution
Leadership & Team Oversight
Directly manage and mentor the Social Media Manager.
Set clear expectations, workflows, and success metrics for execution.
Review content calendars and plans at a high level to ensure alignment with strategy.
Serve as the senior social media voice in cross-functional meetings and vendor meetings.
Establish 30-60-90 KPIs for Social Media Manager & Execute Annual Performance Evaluations
Reporting, Forecasting & Insights
Own all social media reporting and executive-level recaps.
Forecast growth, engagement, and performance based on historical data and upcoming initiatives.
Translate data into clear insights, recommendations, and action plans.
Identify opportunities to improve reach, engagement, efficiency, and long-term brand equity.
Define and maintain a clear cadence for social reporting (e.g., bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly) based on stakeholder needs and business priorities.
Lead required preparation for cross-departmental quarterly whiteboard meetings, including social calendars, goals, performance learnings, KPIs, and key discussion points.
Paid Social Media Oversight
Own and manage the paid social media budget in partnership with Marketing and Finance.
Set paid social priorities, allocation, and forecasting across platforms.
Oversee paid social performance and ROI.
Ensure alignment between organic and paid social strategies.
Provide Monthly Overview of Budget Spend & Tracking
Strategic Optimization & Recommendations
Continuously evaluate platform performance, audience behavior, and competitive landscape.
Recommend strategic shifts, testing opportunities, and platform investments.
Use data to guide decisions while protecting brand goals and consistency.
Fashion & Industry Expertise
Serve as a subject-matter expert in fashion, denim, and lifestyle social media.
Monitor industry trends, competitors, and cultural moments to inform strategy and positioning.
Proactively identify relevant trainings, conferences, and learning opportunities to support ongoing professional development and subject-matter expertise.
Maintain a strong working knowledge of AI and emerging technologies relevant to social media, applying them thoughtfully in ways that align with brand values and customer expectations.
Stay closely connected to key industry leaders, platforms, and communities to monitor shifts in trends, tools, and best practices that should be evaluated and adopted.
Culture, Trends & AI
Stay deeply connected to culture, media, and social trends
Monitor competitors and emerging platforms
Lead responsible adoption of AI tools for:
Trend research
Reporting efficiency
Content ideation
Identify trainings and conferences for continued growth
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Creative, Brand, Digital, E-commerce, Influencer, Legal, and Operations teams
Integrate social into campaign planning
Manage vendor relationships (Sprout, LATER, influencer agencies)
Execution Support (As Needed)
Support posting and scheduling during high-volume periods (ex: major campaigns, launches, pop-ups)
Step in to assist Social Media Manager when volume requires additional coverage
What This Role Does NOT Own (Primary Ownership)
Day-to-day posting
Community management
Tactical calendar maintenance
These primarily sit with the Social Media Manager, with support as needed
Qualifications & Experience
7–10+ years of social media experience, with 3–5+ years in a senior or leadership role
Required background in fashion, denim, or lifestyle brands
Proven experience owning social strategy, forecasting, reporting, and recommendations
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience managing paid social media budgets
Strong analytical and presentation skills
Familiarity with social tools and analytics platforms (Sprout Social preferred)
Experience managing direct reports and influencing cross-functional teams
Salary $120,000 - $130,000
