The position requires expertise in operating highly available, secure, and scalable infrastructure. The position works under minimal direction with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This is a “hands-on” position requiring strong technical skills, as well as excellent informal leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:\n\nDesign, implement, and maintain the organization’s compute, storage, cloud and operational technology infrastructure.\n\nMonitor performance, identify bottlenecks or issues, and proactively implement solutions to optimize performance and ensure high availability.\n\nImplement and manage monitoring tools to oversee system performance, identify issues, and implement necessary measures to optimize system performance and reliability.\n\nConduct regular system backups, audits, and testing to ensure business continuity.\n\nProvide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for escalated infrastructure issues.\n\nInvestigate and resolve complex problems, collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors as needed.\n\nPerform root cause analysis of incidents and develop preventive measures to minimize future occurrences.\n\nStay up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices, applying them to enhance performance, reliability & security.\n\nMaintain accurate documentation of configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.\n\nPrepare regular reports on infrastructure performance, security incidents, and other relevant metrics.\n\nOn-call availability may be required to respond to emergency situations\n\nTHE DETAILS:\n\nLocation: Northern Virginia\n\nTravel: Domestic travel required up to 15%\n\nMust be eligible to work in the United States\n\nMust pass a comprehensive background screening\n\nMUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:\n\nBachelor’s degree in a computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, or equivalent industry experience.\n\n5-7 years’ experience as a system engineer in an enterprise or data center setting\n\nExperience with on-premises hosting platforms (vSphere/Hyper‑V), storage (NetApp) and backup.\n\nProficiency with code, and the ability to do scripting or coding in at least one popular language (Bash, python, Ruby, etc).\n\nData center experience a plus\n\nTHIS MIGHT BE RIGHT FOR YOU IF:\n\nYou are a strong communicator, you are persuasive and clear, blending analytics with experience in decision-making.\n\nYou do not get flustered easily.
