You'll also own the operational side of the platform: the requirements, the review gates, and the release process that stand between a finished design and a live page.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nWhat you'll do\nBuild and maintain the front end of microsoft.ai, from templates and components through publishing workflows\nTurn Figma designs into responsive, accessible production pages with pixel-level fidelity\nBuild custom interactive components: media players, embedded demos, data visualizations, model showcases\nOwn the content authoring experience so writers and producers can publish without engineering support\nDrive performance, accessibility, and QA across launches - profiling, caching, CDN strategy, and WCAG conformance are yours to own\nCarry engineering compliance through Microsoft's accessibility, security, privacy, and legal review processes\nOwn versioning, documentation, and release process so the platform stays maintainable as the team grows\nHelp evaluate and evolve the site's underlying platform as needs change\n\nQualifications\n\nRequired\n5+ years front-end engineering on production marketing or editorial sites\nStrong JavaScript/TypeScript and modern component frameworks (React, Vue, or similar)\nExpert HTML and CSS, including layout, typography, and animation fundamentals\nHands-on WordPress experience alongside at least one other Content Management System or stack\nExperience shipping content-driven sites at scale\nDemonstrated accessibility practice\nExperience shepherding work through formal review gates - accessibility, security, privacy, or legal - without losing momentum\nStrong QA and release discipline: test plans, launch checklists, and a bug backlog you drive to zero\nTrack record shipping on tight timelines alongside design and content partners\nPortfolio of design-forward interactive work\nPreferred\nMotion and creative-tech experience: GSAP, WebGL, Three.js, Canvas, or similar\nHeadless or decoupled architecture, or experience migrating a site between platforms\nHigh-traffic sites under brand, legal, or accessibility review\nAzure hosting, CI/CD, and third-party API integration\nInterest in emerging platform capabilities (WebGPU, view transitions, Houdini APIs)\n\nSoftware Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.\nCertain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
