Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.\nA Principal Linux System Engineer is a seasoned, technical, leader who possesses an advanced understanding of their discipline. This position is responsible for researching, creating budgets, overseeing projects, delegating work, and acting as mentors. The Principal Engineer guides other team members to ensure completion of projects on time and within budget, bringing high-quality projects to fruition. This position is also responsible for developing teams and engineers within the organization, setting project deadlines and improving engineering processes and technologies.\nWe are specifically focusing on these technologies\nContainers/Tanzu, (includes istio, contour, Harbour, NSX)\nMiddleware(Tomcat,Jboss,Haproxy, Apache, Nginx)\nData Streaming/Messaging ( Kafka, RabbitMQ, Zookeeper)\nREQUIRED\nHigh School diploma or equivalent (GED)\n10+ years of information technology systems experience in an applicable area\nDevelop and provide technical standards and guidance to design and create a dependable, scalable, and maintainable infrastructure.\nProactively identifies opportunities to reuse or generalize existing solutions and architectures and avoid duplication of effort by encouraging collaboration.\nEnsure that all projects are of high quality and that team members follow established standards.\nStay current with new and emerging system standards and technology in general as it relates to the needs of the company.\nRecommend new technologies to help improve efficiency and implement process improvements.\nSupports and facilitates in maintenance and upgrades of existing software.\nParticipates in risk assessments and mitigating activities, technical audits, and ensure recommendations are implemented.\nProvide input to help shape infrastructure standards and implementation of best practices.\nParticipate in the development of individual contributor goals within department.\nManage tasks and resources while utilizing modern project management principles.\nMentor and train other engineers by distilling complex technical designs into step-by-step instructions.\nIdentify opportunities to innovate across teams with a willingness to experiment and to confront problems of varying degrees of complexity and scope.\nGuide discussions to remove blockers and encourage collaboration amongst teams.\nMonitor and assess the performance of the engineering team.\nAssist with analyzing and troubleshooting application and system issues.\nParticipate in developing technical solutions which support architectural changes that solve performance and stability issues.\nPrioritize projects and assess their financial impact.\nProvide feedback, conduct quarterly goal reviews, and annual performance reviews.\nAll other duties as assigned.\nSKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE\nUnderstand how to establish the value and cost of an IT project\nAdvanced understanding of change management and the change control process and procedures\nAbility to lead and get results from others while prioritizing high urgency and complex tasks\nStrong ability to articulate advanced technical , write technical documentation, and teach others\nExpert knowledge in systems debugging and testing knowledge, complex computer systems (multiple programs, databases, communications etc.), and systems analysis and design\nExceptional problem-solving skills\nStrong verbal and written communications skills\nMust be able to learn independently but also work well in a team environment\nFlexible availability including nights, weekends, and on call rotations\nDESIRED\nA bachelor’s of science in a technology related field\nAdvanced understanding of financial methods to evaluate ROI of IT projects\nAdvanced education in leadership and teambuilding with the ability to motivate and inspire others\nAdvanced skills in Project Management and Business Analysis\nAdvanced technical training or certifications related to scope of work\nO’Reilly Auto Parts has a proven track record of growth and stability.
