The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe microreactor that can be transported anywhere power is needed and run for up to 5 years without refueling. Portable nuclear power with rapid-deploy capability can replace similar-sized diesel generators and provide critical asset support for hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases. Radiant’s unique, practical approach to nuclear development leverages modern software engineering to rapidly deliver safe, factory-built microreactors that use existing, well-qualified materials. Founded in 2020, Radiant is on track to test its first reactor at the Idaho National Laboratory this summer, with initial customer deliveries beginning in 2028.\n\nAbout the Role\nRadiant is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design, build, and maintenance of Radiant's electrical test infrastructure for Kaleidos, Radiant's commercial microreactor unit targeted for deployment in 2028. You will take ownership of test infrastructure development, including HIL systems and other electrical test platforms, while driving integration and validation across critical systems. This role is ideal for an experienced electrical engineer with deep hands-on expertise in test infrastructure who is ready to own technical decisions across electrical integration, validation strategy, and test environment development. You will have the opportunity to shape the electrical test infrastructure supporting the first high-temperature gas-cooled portable microreactor ever to be commercialized.\n\nResponsibilities and Duties:\n\nOwn the design, build, and maintenance of electrical test infrastructure, including test benches and other test platforms as the program evolves.\n\nDefine electrical and software integration requirements spanning power distribution, signal conditioning, sensor mapping, actuator interfaces, and device simulation.\n\nOwn communication and integration between hardware, control systems, and software interfaces.\n\nLead the electrical validation strategy; develop, execute, and iterate on test procedures and methodologies.\n\nAssemble, debug, and troubleshoot electrical test hardware and harnesses with minimal guidance.\n\nExecute test procedures, collect data, and lead analysis across multiple test environments.\n\nDrive optimization of test and validation processes and lead improvements in tooling and automation.\n\nLead design reviews and communicate technical decisions to cross-functional stakeholders.\n\nRequired Skills and Qualifications:\n\nBS in Electrical Engineering or a related field.\n\n5+ years of hands-on experience in electrical engineering, including hardware design, integration, and test.\n\nDemonstrated experience owning and building electrical test infrastructure.\n\nProficiency with DAQ and test platforms such as dSpace, NI PXI, Speedgoat, or similar.\n\nHands-on experience with data acquisition, test execution, and validation frameworks.\n\nStrong electrical and software debugging and troubleshooting skills.\n\nDesired Skills and Qualifications:\n\nExperience with real-time simulation systems and FPGA-based hardware.\n\nStrong understanding of control fundamentals and software testing processes.\n\nExperience with trace capture tools or data acquisition and analysis tools.\n\nBackground in high-reliability, safety-critical, or regulated industry environments (aerospace, defense, nuclear, medical, or automotive).\n\nComfortable owning multiple test environments and defining new test infrastructure as program needs evolve.\n\nAdditional Requirements\n\nMust be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to accomplish our mission.\n\nMust work 100% onsite at El Segundo HQ.\n\nBenefits and Perks\n\nStock: Substantial incentive stock plan for all full-time employees.\n\nMedical: 100% up to base silver level plan for employee + 50% dependents, offers up to Platinum plans.\n\nOne Medical: Sponsored memberships for employees and their dependents.\n\nVision: 100% top tier plan coverage + 50% for dependents.\n\nDental: 100% top tier plan coverage, orthodontia extra, 50% for dependents.\n\nVoluntary life, accident, hospital, critical illness, commuter and FSA/HSA are offered as employee contributed benefits.\n\n8-weeks of paid parental leave for all parents. Additional paid pregnancy leave for CA employees.\n\nDaily catered lunch. Free snacks and drinks.\n\nFlexible PTO policy. Radiant’s new hire compensation package includes base salary, substantial equity grants, and comprehensive health benefits. Total compensation and level are determined through a rigorous evaluation of interview performance, experience, education, and qualifications, and are designed to support continued growth as scope, responsibility, and impact expand at Radiant.\n\nThe best of today’s advanced reactor builders don’t wait for job postings.
