The Controls Engineer will develop PLC and HMI programs, integrate automation hardware and software, troubleshoot control systems, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget. This role focuses on applying control theory and practical automation experience to optimize processes in manufacturing or industrial settings.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDesign, program, and commission PLC-based control systems (Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, or equivalent) for new and existing equipment.\nDevelop and maintain HMI/SCADA interfaces that provide clear operator feedback, alarms, and diagnostics.\nCreate and review electrical and control system schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams.\nPerform system integration, including sensor, actuator, VFD, motor, and network configuration.\nDebug and troubleshoot control system issues during integration and field commissioning to minimize downtime.\nImplement control strategies, PID tuning, and safety interlocks to meet performance and regulatory requirements.\nCollaborate with mechanical engineers, production, and vendors to define requirements and ensure successful project delivery.\nPrepare technical documentation, PLC/HMI code comments, and as-built drawings; provide training and support to operations staff.\nParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase automation, efficiency, and reliability.\nEnsure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations in control system design and implementation.\n\nQualifications\n\nBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.\n3+ years of experience in industrial controls, automation, or a related engineering role.\nHands-on experience with PLC programming platforms (e.g., Rockwell/Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, or similar).\nExperience designing and developing HMI/SCADA screens and operator interfaces.\nStrong understanding of control fundamentals, PID tuning, and motor/VFD control.\nFamiliarity with industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, ProfiNet, etc.).\nExperience with electrical schematics, panel wiring, and field commissioning.\nProblem-solving mindset, strong debugging skills, and the ability to work independently and in teams.\nExcellent communication skills and experience preparing technical documentation and training operators.\nRelevant certifications (e.g., Certified Automation Professional, PLC programming certificates) or experience with safety standards (NFPA 79, IEC 61131) are a plus.\n- For this position, you must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship for a non-immigrant visa.
