Using state of the art can-making technology, this high speed environment provides rewarding manufacturing opportunities.\n\nThe Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator, reporting directly to the EHS Manager, is responsible for the daily administration and coordination of safety and environmental programs at the Waco, Texas, aluminum division. This role ensures that the plant remains in full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while fostering a \"Safety First\" culture across the 24/7 high-speed production environment.\n\nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:\nSAFETY COORDINATION & COMPLIANCE\nField Inspections: Conduct regular safety audits and floor walks to identify hazards related to high-speed machinery, such as Bodymakers and Decorators, ensuring proper guarding and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) compliance.\nIncident Investigation: Support the EHS Manager in investigating near-misses and accidents, performing root-cause analysis, and tracking the completion of corrective actions.\nSafety Training: Coordinate and deliver safety orientations for new hires and specialized training for existing staff, including forklift safety, chemical handling, and hearing conservation.\nHazardous Materials: Assist in the management of the Hazard Communication program, ensuring Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are updated and accessible for all chemicals used in the washer and coating areas.\n\nENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP\nPermit Management: Monitor and document data for environmental permits, focusing on wastewater discharge limits from the can washer and VOC emissions from curing ovens.\nWaste Management: Coordinate the proper labeling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams, including used oils, chemical sludge, and scrap aluminum.\nSustainability Reporting: Assist in tracking plant-wide sustainability metrics such as water usage reduction and energy efficiency initiatives.\n\nADMINISTRATIVE & OPERATIONAL SUPPORT\nDocumentation: Maintain accurate OSHA logs, training records, and environmental reports within the plant’s digital management systems.\nPPE Management: Oversee the inventory and distribution of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ensuring all employees have access to required earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.\nEmergency Response: Serve as a key member of the Emergency Response Team, coordinating drills and maintaining emergency equipment like eyewash stations and fire extinguishers.\n\nEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:\nREQUIRED\nHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent\n2+ years of experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.\nWorking knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards and general automation standard practices.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Google Workspace.\n24/7 Support Requirement: This role requires 24/7 \"on-call\" availability. The coordinator must be reachable and able to provide support or return to the site during nights, weekends, and holidays to manage emergency responses or critical safety incidents.\n\nPREFERRED\nPrior experience in metal forming, packaging, or high-volume consumer goods (FMCG).\nBachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.\nProfessional certification such as Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP), or Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST).\nExperience with Title V Air Permits, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), and Industrial Wastewater treatment.\nCurrent First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor certification.\nAbility to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish is a plus.\n\nGENERAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:\nCommunication Skills: Ability to clearly explain safety protocols and technical regulations to employees at all levels of the organization, from shop floor operators to senior management.\nProblem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to conduct root-cause analysis and develop effective, sustainable corrective actions for safety and environmental issues.\nAttention to Detail: Meticulous approach to documentation and data tracking to ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance.\nInterpersonal Skills: Ability to build rapport and influence a positive safety culture without having direct authority over production teams.\nOrganizational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple projects, training schedules, and compliance deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.\nTechnical Aptitude: Comfort working around complex, high-speed automated machinery and industrial chemical processes.\n\nSOFTWARE/COMPUTER SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:\nGeneral knowledge of basic accessing information on the computer or entering data in a computer system\n\nDISCLAIMER:\nThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job.
