Paraprofessional Instructional Support (Part-Time 27.5 Hours Per Week)

Position: Paraprofessional - Instructional SupportLocation: Emmons Lake ElementaryReports To: Principal/Special Programs DirectorCompensation: $15.78 per hour: 27.5 hours per week/183 Days per yearBenefits: Paid sick days, paid personal days, paid holidays.Start Date: As availablePosition SummaryThe special education (SE) paraprofessional assists the teacher in providing for the instructional needs of students with learning disabilities. The SE paraprofessional assists with the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including self-help, behavior management, and instructional programs.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of a certified teacher:Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified staffAssists the certified staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilitiesMonitors and supervises curriculum-based testing and makeup work as assigned by the certified staffAssist students with any medical or physical accommodations or needsPerforms clerical, classroom maintenance, and instructional duties as assigned by the certified staffDemonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in the school environment and communityPlans instruction techniques and methodologies, and prepares lesson materials based on assessments of individual students and their needsAdministers assessment tests and interprets results to identify student needsRecords and reports assessment data to teachers and school administrators; completes required forms, reports, and other paperworkAssesses students to determine if they require Title One services and to provide metrics to measure the success of teaching effortsInstructs and reinforces core subject learning strategiesTutors students in one-on-one or small group settings in all curriculum areasMeets with teachers to discuss students' goals and progress and discuss additional interventions Employment QualificationsEDUCATION: This position requires the attainment of a high school diploma or equivalent. College coursework is desired, but not required. Knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics is essential.EXPERIENCE: Previous experience working with students or individuals with disabilities is preferred, but not required.
