As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for leading the design, architecture, and implementation of core features related to the database kernel, security, scalability, and performance. You’ll collaborate with product management, quality assurance, and technical documentation to ensure features are delivered on time and with high-quality standards.\nIn this role, you will:\nLead the design, architecture, and implementation of high-quality core features for the MarkLogic database, including security, scalability, reliability, and performance.\nDesign and implement high-performance, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems using C++.\nCollaborate closely with the Product Owner, and Development teams to define product vision and ensure functional and non-functional requirements are met.\nMentor and guide junior engineers, promoting best practices in distributed systems and secure software development.\nDesign and implement proof-of-concept projects for the MarkLogic Database and Server Product.\nLead technical discussions ensuring project engagements are collaborative and effective.\nYour background:\n8+ years of hands-on experience in database internals or building core components for data processing systems\n5+ years of experience in distributed and multi-threaded systems. Being able to write software that performs both correctly and efficiently when deployed to a cluster of computers\nAdvanced C++ coding skills; familiarity with XQuery, JavaScript is a plus\nStrong understanding of Linux/Unix systems; Windows experience is a bonus\nKnowledge of MarkLogic Server or similar database systems is a significant plus\nWorking knowledge of all aspects of the software development lifecycle\nProven ability to debug complex server-side issues (e.g., using GDB)\nFamiliarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerized environments\nExperience with version control systems (SVN, Git)\nBachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience\nAdditionally, it would be beneficial if you have:\nExperience with high-performance distributed systems, fault-tolerant software architecture, and performance optimization\nExperience with MarkLogic Server or similar NoSQL/SQL hybrid databases\nKnowledge of web and network protocols, as well as document formats like JSON and XML\nBase Salary Range: $144,500 - $178,500\nThis position is also eligible to participate in our performance-based annual corporate bonus plan. Final base compensation is determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, education, demonstrable experience, and allowance for future and continued salary growth.
