The Queen City Academy Charter School of Plainfield is an equalopportunity employer.Middle School SPED Teacher Position OverviewAll teachers at The Queen City Academy Charter School advance the mission, goalsand educational philosophy of the school by planning and facilitating learningactivities and experiences that advance the intellectual, emotional, physical, and socialgrowth of students, while enabling students to develop competencies, skills anddisposition to function successfully in society.The Middle School Science Teacher should be able to:Middle School SPED Teacher Job Description● Provide research-based specialized instruction to address the instructionalgoals and objectives contained within each student's IEP.● Assess student progress and determine the need for additionalreinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques.● Employ various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning toenable students to meet their IEP goals.● Develop and implement annual Individualized Educational Program (IEP)plans for students to include: present levels of educational performance,special education needs, instructional goals and objectives, and the specialeducation and related services required to meet those goals.● Schedule team meetings and work cooperatively with child study teammembers and others in developing instructional goals and strategies.● Coordinate the delivery of special education services in each student's IEP.● Create a positive learning experience with emphasis in individualizedinstruction using appropriate sources.● Serve as primary contact for the parent.● Conduct special education evaluations and reevaluations.● Provide direction, supervision and evaluation of educational assistants asdirected.● Comply with School Board policies and all state/federal rules andregulations.● Complete all district and state reporting requirements.● Establish and maintain student control and discipline in the classroom,school premises or during school activities.● Employ and implement a classroom structure and consistency toencourage student responsibility, cooperation and mutual respectconsistent with district policies and procedures.● Collaborate and consult with educational professionals and communityservice providers (i.e., social services, public health, medical providers etc.)regarding the needs of students.● Provide consultation to classroom teachers regarding classroomadaptations, instructional modifications, adaptive equipment, behaviormodification plans and other similar instructional interventions to meet theneeds of students with disabilities.● Perform other comparable duties of a like or similar nature apparent or asassigned.QualificationsThe successful candidate will hold at minimum a Bachelor's degree and certification asappropriate. The expectation is that all candidates hold at least a Certificate of Eligibilityand QCACS leadership can provide guidance on obtaining full certification in the State ofNew Jersey. Candidates should be prepared to provide a copy of a valid New JerseyCertificate or proof of passing the required PRAXIS tests.
