Critical Facilities Technician
Critical Facilities Technician | Onsite in Raleigh, NCOptomi, in partnership with a leading financial services organization, is seeking an experienced Critical Facility Technician to join their team in Raleigh, NC!This role is responsible for ensuring all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems within mission-critical data center and large facility environments are operating at peak performance to maintain 99.99%+ uptime. The Critical Facility Technician provides hands-on support for preventative maintenance, corrective repairs, and emergency response across complex infrastructure systems including generators, switchgear, UPS systems, cooling equipment, and building automation systems. This position also partners closely with Senior Critical Facility Technicians, engineering, IT, security, and third-party vendors to ensure reliable facility operations and successful execution of small infrastructure projects from start to finish.What the right candidate will enjoy!Hands-on work with critical, large-scale data center infrastructure supporting mission-critical operationsExposure to a wide range of systems including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire/life safety, and controlsWorking alongside experienced senior technicians, engineering teams, and cross-functional stakeholdersOwnership of daily facility operations and involvement in small project execution from concept to completionExperience of the right candidate:Electrical experience with large switchgear and data center electrical systemsCritical HVAC experience including chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, and VFD systemsAbility to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, HVAC, controls, and fire/life safety printsStrong understanding of mission-critical facility environments and uptime requirementsExperience working in data center or large critical facility environments preferredValid driver’s license with reliable transportationResponsibilities of the right candidate:Perform preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and emergency response on facility equipmentEnsure electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and fire/life safety systems are operating to required standardsSupport 99.99%+ uptime across mission-critical infrastructure systemsAssist Senior Critical Facility Technicians with small project execution from planning through completionMonitor and coordinate with third-party vendors performing onsite workCollaborate with engineering, IT, security, and internal support teams on daily operationsTroubleshoot and resolve issues across generators, UPS systems, switchgear, chillers, pumps, AHUs, and related systemsMaintain accurate documentation and communicate operational updates to leadershipSupport and execute site/equipment-specific training and operational procedures
