Collaborate with a team of engineers to design and prototype embedded hardware, firmware and software. Directly involved in design, development and testing of system components, including: circuit boards, analog and digital sensors, batteries and power supplies. Hardware design and layout experience are greatly desired. Contribute to the team at all stages of design and prototyping, from initial concept development to rapid design and testing efforts, as well as supporting manufacture of engineering prototype systems and planning and executing real‑world demonstrations for customers.\n\nDuties and Responsibilities:\n\nIdentify engineering challenges and recommend component and/or system designs to solve them.\n\nDesign, prototype and test system components in collaboration with project leads and team members.\n\nWork within a multi-disciplinary team of ocean, mechanical, material and acoustic engineers to successfully integrate prototype components into full-scale engineering prototype systems.\n\nContribute to component‑level and system‑level testing throughout development.\n\nConduct research and testing as needed to understand and then correct component‑level design and manufacturing flaws when they are found.\n\nDevelop and maintain design and manufacturing documentation and procedures.\n\nMentor early‑career electrical engineers assigned to the engineering team.\n\nRequirements:\nThe physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
