The role reports to the Senior Director of Science & Clinical Research on the R&D team.\n\nHow you'll contribute\n\nSubject recruitment, screening, & scheduling: recruit subjects for internal studies and build out Eight Sleep’s beta tester group and lab tester databases for improved efficiencies and workflows.\n\nData collection & trial management:\n\nManage the day‑to‑day operation of research studies, from IRB submissions, recruitment, scheduling, reminder emails and calls, equipment ordering, etc.\n\nSpend 80‑90% of time collecting data to meet product decision deadlines.\n\nDuring sleep studies, set up studies and respond to emails/phone calls between 6‑9 PM on weeknights and monitor data over weekends.\n\nData management:\n\nMaintain accurate study records and regulatory documentation in accordance with IRB and HIPAA guidelines.\n\nPerform quality assurance of all collected data to ensure completeness and accuracy; follow up with subjects to resolve problems, address queries, or clarify data collected.\n\nWhat you need to succeed\n\n1+ years of experience running human‑factors research, user testing, or in‑person human research studies.\n\nExperience with prototype hardware, software, Google suite, and command‑line tools.\n\nBasic understanding of hardware, software, and firmware for data collection purposes.\n\nSuperior communication skills, excellent time management & organizational skills, high attention to detail, and ability to adapt quickly to changes.\n\nWilling to work nights & weekends for study setup and checks.\n\nWilling to travel locally to users’ houses (must have a car) to set up the Pod for testing.\n\nAble to lift ~25 pounds and change the Pod cover & sheets on a mattress.\n\nBachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Human Physiology, Psychology, Neuroscience, Computer Science, or related field.\n\nPreferred\n\n2+ years of experience working in wearable devices, medical devices, or related industry.\n\nExperience running small and large‑scale user research studies, including in‑person and decentralized.\n\nExperience coding in Python.\n\nPrevious experience working with a startup.\n\nExperience delivering informed consents & following HIPAA guidelines for data management.\n\nBenefits & career growth\n\nImmediate responsibility with accelerated career growth.\n\nCollaborate with exceptional talent in a fast‑paced environment.\n\nEquitable compensation and continuous equity investment.\n\nOwn a Pod: every full‑time employee receives a personal Pod and other benefits.\n\nAt Eight Sleep, we celebrate diversity and are an equal‑opportunity employer.
