Technical Development Designer

The Technical Development Designer will focus on our intimates and sleepwear business and is responsible for translating creative concepts into production-ready garments. This role will be focused on development and will partner closely with Design, Product Development, Merchandising, and Production teams to ensure fit integrity, construction excellence, comfort performance, and brand-right execution across bras, underwear, shapewear, loungewear, and sleep categories. This position requires expertise in intimate apparel construction, fit standards, grading, fabric performance, and 3D development tools.Responsibilities:Own technical development from concept through 1st fit approval for intimates and sleep categoriesInterpret design intent and establish technical construction standards that deliver superior fit, comfort, and supportCreate and maintain detailed Tech Packs including specs, construction callouts, grade rules, and fit commentsLead fit sessions on live models and mannequins; provide clear and actionable feedback to vendorsDevelop and approve graded specs, ensuring consistency across size ranges (missy, extended, plus, etc.)Collaborate with Design to problem-solve aesthetic and performance challenges while maintaining cost targetsPartner with vendors to troubleshoot pattern, fabric, trim, and construction issuesEvaluate fabric performance (stretch, recovery, shrinkage, hand feel) specific to intimate and sleep categoriesOversee prototype development, 3D sampling, and virtual fit review when applicableMaintain fit blocks and ensure seasonal updates align with brand standardsSupport wear testing and provide technical recommendations for product improvementsEnsure compliance with quality standards and production timelinesQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or related field5+ years of technical design/development experience, with strong focus in intimates and/or sleepwearDeep understanding of bra construction, elastics, support systems, stretch fabrics, lace application, and seam engineeringStrong knowledge of grading for intimate categoriesProficiency in Adobe Illustrator and PLM systemsExperience with 3D tools (Browzwear, CLO, or similar) preferredStrong garment fitting skills and pattern knowledgeExcellent communication and vendor management skillsHighly detail-oriented with strong organizational abilitiesAnnual salary range starting at $90,000+The disclosed salary is commensurate with experience and does not reflect the total compensation package.
