Our Approach.\nThe Lead Controls Program Engineer (LCPE) provides controls engineering expertise during the pre-award phase of complex engineering projects, focusing on standardization, modularization, and alignment with Fedex’s technical and operational needs. They ensure scope, schedules, and budgets meet organizational standards and FedEx’s expectations. Acting as the primary technical liaison, the LCPE facilitates communication between engineering, sales, and FedEx teams to support project execution.\nDuring project handover, the LCPE prepares risk assessments, identifies opportunities, and shares Lessons Learned to guide execution. They create FedEx specification packages, conduct periodic audits, and provide recommendations to maintain project success. Additionally, they lead multi-discipline Project Design Reviews and collaborate with the Training team to develop and deliver FedEx specific technical training materials.\nResponsibilities:\nGain an in-depth understanding of complex FedEx technical standards and project requirements to inform strategic planning.\nPromote the development of comprehensive engineering strategies, resource plans, and project timelines in alignment with multifaceted project scopes.\nCoordinate and critically review multidisciplinary design efforts to ensure seamless integration and adherence to the highest technical standards.\nAct as the internal lead technical interface for FedEx, establishing trust and guiding strategic conversations across the FORTNA organization\nAssist the strategic sourcing of materials and components, optimizing resource allocation and scheduling.\nDisplay superior communication skills, leading by example to drive effective collaboration and cross-disciplinary integration.\nRequired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:\nAdvanced knowledge of multidisciplinary engineering processes.\nExceptional leadership and strategic planning abilities.\nSuperior communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.\nBroad technical expertise across multiple engineering disciplines.\nProficient in project scheduling and resource management.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities.\nDemonstrated leadership and team management skills.\nOperates with a high degree of autonomy and handles complex issues independently.\nTakes the initiative to identify opportunities and implement solutions.\nComprehensive knowledge of technical project management.\nEducation and Experience:\nEngineering Bachelors degree (or similar engineering program) from an accredited college with 10+ years of relevant experience, or 12+ years of relevant engineering experience.\n5+ years of experience in technical project leadership, with a track record of managing complex projects.\nOther Qualifications Desired:\nValid driver’s license and able to rent a car without a co-renter.\nExcellent communication skills.\nStrong leadership and team management capabilities.\nProficiency in conflict resolution.\nEffective time management and organizational skills.\nAdaptability and learning agility.\nInterpersonal skills.\nStrategic thinker.\nResilience and persistence.\nCustomer-centric mindset.\nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to walk, kneel, crouch and balance frequently.\nAbility to climb, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps, etc., using feet, legs and/or hands and arms frequently.\nAbility to lift, push or pull up to 75lbs occasionally.\nAbility to sit/stand frequently for long and/or intermittent periods of time.\nTime spent between general office environment (with normal sitting, standing and minimal, nominal lifting) and active construction site visits.\nTime spent on active job sites includes subject to noise, being in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical power and control systems, and high places.\nPersonal Protective Equipment required at active job sites.\nBase Salary Range:\nThe base salary range for this role is 115,900 to 173,800. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position.
