This is an in‑person position located at the Cheraw Campus.\n\nJob Functions of the Biology Instructor\n\nPresent course materials through appropriate instructional strategies to facilitate the learning process through multi modalities and laboratory environments.\n\nDevelop, revise and maintain current instructional materials including lesson plans, lab projects, through course objectives, outlines, appropriate instructional materials and methods. Demonstrate and provide professional effective classroom management and control, maintain safety and current lab experience and equipment, provide timely and accurate reports supporting the collegiate learning environment.\n\nParticipate in assisting students in personal and professional development.\n\nEffectively use required office hours and professional student advising for student completion.\n\nParticipate in college activities and the promotion of NETC through service.\n\nParticipate in activities designed to develop professional skills to maintain and improve job proficiency.\n\nAll other duties assigned by the Dean of Arts & Sciences.\n\nMinimum and Additional Requirements\n\nSBTCE Minimum Requirements: Master’s Degree with 18 credit hours in the subject area. Must have a valid driver’s license.\n\nPreferred: Previous teaching experience at community/technical college.\n\nExperience using a variety of teaching modalities (face‑to‑face, broadcast, and online).\n\nMaster’s degree or 18 graduate hours in a second subject area which would allow teaching in a second discipline.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nKnowledge of principles and procedures pertaining to higher education instruction.\n\nKnowledge and/or work experience.\n\nKnowledge of standard business practices and accepted protocol for areas of responsibility.\n\nKnowledge of college mission, goals and objectives and ability to relate these to areas of responsibility.\n\nAbility to supervise and coordinate the activities of a professional level staff; establish good working relationships with alumni, businesses, students, faculty and others in the college community.\n\nAbility to interpret and apply all related laws.\n\nDemonstration of teaching abilities.\n\nEmployee will receive minimal supervision in the performance of teaching and advising responsibilities; employee is expected to demonstrate independence and discretion in teaching practice and student advising.\n\nAdditional Comments\nThe teaching environment includes classroom and lab, requiring local travel to business/industry and community campuses and some short‑term travel may be required for professional meetings. Professional Development may require some overnight stays.
