OverviewThe successful candidate must provide technical assistance and overall direction to a team of hourly representativeemployees. Core to this position is the successful performance of the team's safety, quality, cost, schedule and continuous improvement.Effective communication, leadership, creating a positive team environment with employees and peers is key to success for the selected candidate. This position of Operations Supervisor provides a platform to gain a working knowledge of various manufacturing environments and their relationships with other parts of Electric Boat business. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer or experienced trades-personto advance into a career-building leadership position and gain invaluable experienceto support their career development.Roles and Responsibilities:Lead the activities of approximately 15 piping trades employees in the performance of preparing, assembling and installing equipment on-boardsubmarinesPrimary point of contact to interface with engineering, ship's management, quality and other trade departmentsLead the team to achievement of company goals for safety, quality, cost, schedule and continuous improvementTake ownership of team performanceQualificationsRequired:High School Diploma or GEDMust meet one of the following:Minimum 1 year trade experience at electric boatMinimum of 3 yearcombined relevant experience and leadership experiencein a high-volume settingMinimum of 1 year EB experience and an Engineering degree in a related fieldPreferred:College/technical school AS/BS degreeMinimum of 3 years pipe-fittingexperience3 years of shipyard experiencePrevious supervisory experiencePrevious related Military/Navy experienceNuclear qualificationsKnowledge of 688, VIRGINIA, and COLUMBIA class submarinesRadcon qualificationsSkillsHave the abilityto read and interpretblueprints, procedures, and related reference documentsHave the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates and supervisorsMust be able to work all assignedshiftsMust be able to work extended hoursMust be able to go on road assignments as business needs dictateApplicant must obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance as a condition of employmentCapable of reading, interpreting and putting into effect plans, procedures and instructionsGood presentation skills and attention to detail preferredProficientin MS Word, Excel and Power Point preferredPhysical QualificationsClimbing, Color Vision, Crawling, Heavy Lifting, Kneeling, Light Lifting, Medium Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Stooping, TwistingEnvironmental AttributesAcids or Alkalis, Cold, Dry, Dusty, Fumes, Hot, Inside, Noise, Oily, Outside, WetJ-18808-Ljbffr
