This role is also responsible for programming CNC machines.\nDescription of Essential Job Functions:\nReads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and determines sequence of operations.\nSelects, positions, and secures tool in tool holder (chuck, collet, or tool post).\nPositions and secures work piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures.\nMoves controls to position tool and work piece in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut.\nSets up fixture or feeding device, starts machine, and turns hand wheel to feed tool to work piece or vice versa, and engages feed.\nObserves operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined workpiece to specifications.\nSets up and operates machines and equipment such as CNC Mills, Lathes, Plasma Cutters, Punches, Benders and welding machines.\nSets up and operates a diverse array of manual and CNC machines and tools.\nResponsible for programming CNC machines and using application software (e.g., CAD/CAM) as necessary.\nOperates bench grinder to sharpen tools.\nOperates overhead cranes, punch presses, forklifts, and other lifting devices.\nConducts thorough inspections and measurements of finished units to uphold commitment to quality.\nLeads troubleshooting and maintenance efforts to resolve any machine or setup issues, enhancing quality, machine longevity and performance.\nRespond swiftly to interruptions to change over to hot unplanned orders.\nSupervisory Responsibilities:\nThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.\nQualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nEducation and Experience:\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent, with a strong preference for candidates with technical certification, vocational training in machining, or a completed apprenticeship in a related field.\nExtensive experience as a Machinist with a demonstrated proficiency in both CNC and manual machining techniques.\nPrevious CNC programming and/or experience using application software, CAD/CAM.\nPractical experience with manufacturing, assembly, and welding equipment, machines, and tooling preferred.\nComputer Skills\nBasic working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and other computer-based applications preferred.\nMRO systems experience is a plus.\nCertificates, Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:\nNone required.\nOther Skills, Abilities, or Core Competencies:\nAbility to troubleshoot tooling issues.\nAbility to obtain welder qualification.\nAbility to operate cranes and forklifts.\nExcellent analytical skills and attention to detail.\nHands-on approach to problem solving and analysis.\nAbility to manually program CNC machines at controls.\nFamiliarity with G-Code and M-Code programming.\nExperience with calipers, micrometers and indicators.\nAble to work in a fast-paced, multicultural work environment.\nAbility to maintain on call flexibility to control abnormal conditions.\nAbility to be flexible in a constantly changing production environment.\nSolid ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and blueprints.\nWorking knowledge of tool and equipment design and/or manufacturing processes.\nAbility to read and follow written instructions and procedures with close supervision.\nAbility to function both independently and with good judgment in a team environment.\nAbility to communicate and work well with all levels inside and outside of the organization.\nAbility and willingness to uphold the 4Front values of Empowerment, Innovation, and Integrity.\nExpertise in operating and maintaining machining equipment to exacting tolerances and precision.\nAbility to adapt available skills and equipment to respond to unforeseen demands and/or problems.\nAbility to troubleshoot and track equipment issues to perform root cause analysis and support corrective actions.\nExceptional communication skills and a proven ability to coordinate with departments on tooling and machining issues.\nAbility to make own fixtures to process parts in the most efficient manner, while saving time and holding close tolerances.\nStrong understanding of mathematics, Trigonometry, and measurement instruments to calculate exact dimensions and tolerances.\nSelf-starter with the capability to work independently under minimal supervision and flexible enough to work overtime as needed.\nFoster a culture of safety and orderliness within area, training peers, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives such as kaizen, 5S, and quality enhancement projects.\nWork in a safety-first manner while adhering to all LOTO, Arc Flash, confined space, and other Company and regulatory environmental, health, and safety policies/standards.\nAdvanced knowledge of various manual/air/electrically operated tools and jigs including wrenches, welders, and grinders.\nOther Qualifications, Experience, or Requirements:\nBilingual in Spanish is a plus.\nRegular and predictable attendance required.\nMust be able to work a fixed or rotating shift schedule, including daily or weekend overtime.\nWork beyond the traditional 40 hours per week may be required as workload or projects dictate, including weekends and holidays.\nPhysical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
