Position Type:Support StaffDate Posted:10/9/2024Location:Lago Vista Middle SchoolDistrict:Lago Vista ISD Primary Purpose:Help special education teachers and general education classroom teachers provide for instructional needs of students with disabilities in the student's educational setting. Assist in implementation of classroom programs, behavior management, social skills, and instruction programs. Work under general supervision of the principal and immediate direction of the certified special education behavior teacher.Qualifications:Education/Certification:High School Diploma or GEDSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsConfidentialityTypical Duties & Responsibilities:Instructional SupportAssist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.Help teacher keep administrative records, data collection, and prepare required reports.Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.Co-facilitate social skills lessonsProvide behavior inclusion support and check ins for students requiring that supportStudent ManagementHelp manage behavior of students. This includes intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous student behavior as needed. Will be trained in SAMA.Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student's special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom.
