The accountant prepares financial statements that meet GAAP standards, provides support to ensure adequate controls, processes & procedures are in place. The position will handle a wide variety of accounting responsibilities for the company. As such, they will have direct responsibility for maintaining an accurate set of Financial Statements through an efficient, timely monthly closing process. The role will also have involvement with maintaining accurate revenue recognition & commission reporting and producing various accounting and financial reports. This role will have some audit and strong data manipulation deliverables.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesMaintain processes & procedures to produce accurate and timely financial statements and related financial reportsPrepare monthly & quarterly financial reporting packagesManage the monthly closing process to ensure accurate, timely and comprehensive financial resultsPrepare timely preliminary monthly financial analysis to identify issues for correctionPrepare account reconciliations ensuring accuracy & timelinessPrepare journal entries, research chargebacks, intercompany and other cost sharing agreementsMaintenance of GL allocations, A/P and prepaid expense codingPrepare GL Account ReconciliationsResearch Financial variances to budgeted expensesProvide NY corporate office accounting analytics support on a quarterly basisProvide Assist with the audit & tax work requested by the corporate officeAnnual budget preparation, maintaining key support schedulesManage multiple QuickBooks company filesProcess accounts receivable and payable and their respective schedulesOther duties as assignedOwner Financial SupportProvide financial support to the firm’s owner, including preparation of weekly cash reportingManage payment of personal bills and expenses on behalf of the owner, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and confidentialityCoordinate with financial institutions to initiate and process personal bank transactions, including wires and transfersWork directly with the owners’ tax accountant to ensure the timely and accurate preparation of annual personal tax returnsMaintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in all matters related to owners’ financial informationQualifications/Knowledge BaseAbility to accomplish goals while meeting deadlinesStrong accounting background and highly skilled in reconciliation processStrong oral and written communication skillsAbility to take on tasks with limited guidanceMust be able to manage projects efficiently and effectively, as well as, meet set deadlinesMust be proficient in Excel, Word, QuickBooks and be able to adapt to/understand various accounting systemsPossess good analytical skills, problem solving skills, and good communication skills, both verbal and writtenAttention to detailStrong work ethicDesired Skills/QualificationsThis position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business administration or related field and/or minimum of eight years’ experience in accounting and finance. The position requires strong expertise with QuickBooks and other types of accounting software, and Microsoft software including Word, and advanced Excel skills preferred. Solid written and verbal communication skills, ability to pay attention to detail, work on multiple assignments, consistently meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality. Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to working with a diverse staff are essential to successfully carry out the duties of this position. The base salary range for this position is $119,000 to $165,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location.
