In this role, you'll be responsible for helping these teams define their roadmaps, plans, and goals, helping them achieve those goals, and guiding each team member to develop their career at Gemini. Deeply involve yourself in the design and modernization process, and use your existing experience of building cloud systems at scale to guide the team to build robust, scalable and highly available systems.\r\nThis role is required to be in person twice a week at either our San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY office.\r\nResponsibilities\r\nCreate and evolve a structure and organization design for your team.\r\nDeeply involved with system architecture of the team, guiding the team through new systems being built, or integrating into existing systems. Using prior design experience to identify pitfalls in scaling, performance, availability and helping the team navigate it.\r\nHelp raise the bar on engineering practices through high quality code review feedback, design reviews, testing, and CICD practices.\r\nDrive performance for your team and hold them accountable to externally and internally imposed deadlines and targets.\r\nMake hiring plans and hiring decisions.\r\nGive frequent feedback and coaching to your team members, coordinating with people from around the company to get a full understanding of your team's performance.\r\nProvide a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for your team to execute on its priorities and evolve its capabilities over time.\r\nCommunicate at all levels from senior leaders to individual contributors, including technical and non-technical audiences.\r\nAdapt the team's plans and goals to changing realities in a fast-moving industry.\r\nEffectively resolve ambiguity, helping the team to analyze complex requirements and break down features and initiatives into tasks.\r\nOwn the team's output, taking responsibility for everyone's performance.\r\nQuickly ramp up on relevant industry and competitive trends.\r\nQualifications\r\nYou have 8+ years of experience in software development & delivery.\r\nYou have 3+ years of managing engineering teams, delivering high quality software for customers.\r\nYou're technical enough to ask engineers good questions about architecture and product decisions.\r\nYou have experience with modern software engineering concepts.\r\nYou have expertise in full stack systems built with Scala or Java (or similar) and React Native.\r\nYou have experience establishing successful partnerships with key stakeholders such as product managers, project managers, and business owners.\r\nIt Pays to Work Here\r\nThe compensation & benefits package for this role includes:\r\nCompetitive starting pay\r\nA discretionary annual bonus\r\nLong-term incentive in the form of a new hire equity grant\r\n401K with company matching\r\nFlexible time off\r\nSalary Range\r\nThe base salary range for this role is between $192,500 - $275,000 in the State of New York, the State of California and the State of Washington. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate's compensation, we consider a number of factors including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.\r\nIn the United States, we offer a hybrid work approach at our hub offices, balancing the benefits of in-person collaboration with the flexibility of remote work.
