Sous Chef / Line Cook
Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Line Chef to join our Italian restaurant team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with a strong understanding of Italian cuisine and culinary techniques. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to work collaboratively with kitchen staff, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Food Preparation:
Prepare ingredients for cooking, including slicing, dicing, and brining.
Ensure all food items are fresh, and ingredients are ready for service.
2. Cooking:
Cook menu items to the restaurant’s specifications, maintaining a high standard of quality.
Utilize various cooking techniques such as sautéing, grilling, baking, and frying in Italian cuisine.
3. Plating and Presentation:
Present dishes attractively and according to restaurant standards.
Work with the Head Chef to ensure all plates meet quality control standards before serving.
4. Food Safety & Sanitation:
Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food handling, storage, and hygiene practices.
Maintain clean and organized workstations and kitchen areas.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operation during service.
Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff regarding timing and menu items.
6. Inventory Management:
Assist with inventory control and stock management, including ordering supplies when needed.
Monitor ingredient levels and communicate any shortages to the Head Chef.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Line Chef or in a similar role, preferably in Italian cuisine.
Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and safety standards.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
