Parks and Recreation Aide 5 - Revenue Cashier
Description Duties Description The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Under the supervision of the Revenue Supervisor, register patrons for different classes and park programs. Process cash transactions as well as credit card transactions and money orders. Cashiers handle and account for the cash in their drawer. Ensure all transactions are checked for counterfeit bills. Be familiar with and maintain an internal database of patrons, programs, and facility reservations. Interact with patrons to resolve questions, distribute information, and provide excellent customer service. Distribute mail. Assist head cashiers as needed with ticket sales for the carousel (distribute wristbands, collect payment). Collect money at athletic and cultural events. Seasonal staff may be asked to assist in other areas of the park as needed and will be expected to perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications Minimum Qualifications NO MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS TITLE PER CIVIL SERVICE.Operational Needs Additional Comments Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State. If not licensed at the time of appointment, the appointee must obtain a driver’s license without restrictions or conditions within a year of appointment. Must be able to write and communicate proficiently in English. The ability to communicate in Spanish is helpful but not required. Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, work independently and set priorities as assigned by a supervisor. Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be willing to support additional tasks and projects as assigned and be willing to occasionally support tasks and projects at other New York State Parks in the New York City Region.
