Database Administrator III (SQL Server)Location: One Energy Plaza (OEP), Jackson, MichiganWork Arrangement: Hybrid — On-site Monday, Tuesday, Thursday; Remote optional Wednesday and FridayJob OverviewWe are seeking an experienced SQL Server / Azure Database Administrator to support enterprise database environments across both on-premises and cloud platforms. This role is responsible for ensuring database performance, availability, security, and reliability while collaborating closely with development, infrastructure, and cloud teams.Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL environments to ensure high availability, performance, and securityPerform database installations, upgrades, patching, configuration, and ongoing maintenance across on-premises and cloud platformsMonitor database performance and proactively identify tuning opportunities, including indexing strategies and query optimizationSupport development and application teams with database design, stored procedures, and troubleshooting complex issuesManage backup and recovery processes, including disaster recovery planning and executionImplement and maintain database security, user access controls, and compliance standardsCollaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to support enterprise data initiativesAssist in the adoption and integration of Cosmos DB and Redis for caching, distributed data, and high-performance workloadsDocument database environments, processes, standards, and operational proceduresParticipate in on-call rotation and provide advanced production supportRequired Qualifications5–7 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration5–7 years of experience with Azure SQL, including performance tuning and cloud-based database managementStrong understanding of database architecture, indexing, query execution plans, and performance troubleshootingExperience with backup/restore strategies, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) solutionsProficiency in T-SQL, scripting, and automation for database operationsProven ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues in production environmentsStrong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environmentPreferred / Nice-to-Have Skills1–3 years of experience with Cosmos DB (1–2 years also considered valuable)1–3 years of experience with Redis as a caching platform (experience with persistence is a plus)Familiarity with cloud-native database patterns, distributed systems, and modern data architecturesExperience supporting enterprise-scale applications and high-volume transactional systems
