Applications Analyst
DEFINITIONThe purpose of this position is to administer, support, maintain, and improve enterprise applications and related technology platforms that support municipal operations. This position serves as a primary technical resource for business-critical systems, with an emphasis on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software and other Tyler Technologies applications used to deliver City services.This position is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving complex application and systems issues, coordinating with software vendors, supporting secure application administration and system availability, documenting processes and system configurations, and assisting with technology projects and continuous improvement efforts. The position also serves as an escalation point for advanced helpdesk issues and provides guidance and knowledge transfer to service desk staff.This position works under administrative supervision, exercising independent judgment within established policies, procedures, and technical standards, and reports major activities to the Applications Supervisor or IT Director.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Not all inclusive)Administers Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software and related Tyler Technologies applications that support municipal operations.Coordinates ERP and related application projects by tracking tasks, supporting testing, and implementation activities, working with stakeholders, vendors, and IT staff to support timely and effective project completion.Diagnoses and resolves complex application, server, and client-related issues; performs maintenance, backups, and recovery tasks; and assists in maintaining reliable system performance and availability.Monitors application and system performance, identifies trends or recurring issues, and provides recommendations to improve reliability and efficiency.Assists in evaluating, testing, implementing, and supporting enterprise applications and related software solutions to meet organizational and system requirements.Creates and maintains technical documentation and provides training and support for effective system use.Responds to escalated help desk inquiries and mentors and guides helpdesk staff in troubleshooting and support procedures.Coordinates with users and software/hardware vendors to troubleshoot, elevate, and resolve application and system issues.Develops and maintains scripts or automation tools to improve routine system administration and application support tasks.Ensures system availability and addresses urgent issues outside regular business hours, as needed.Gathers and analyzes system and support data and prepares reports to support troubleshooting, planning, and service improvement.Assists with disaster recovery, data retention, and continuity procedures, including backups, recovery testing, and documentation to support data integrity and system restoration readiness.Supports secure system and application administration practices and assists with implementing security-related controls, updates, and procedures in coordination with IT leadership and designated security personnel.Assists with the investigation and resolution of security-related system or application issues and supports incident response activities as assigned.Reviews system alerts, logs, and security-related notifications relevant to supported applications and servers, and escalates concerns in accordance with established procedures.Attends training events, conventions, and keeps current on technology trends.Additional DutiesPerforms related work, as assigned.Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsAssociate's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.One (1) year of experience supporting information technology systems in a public-sector environment or supporting public-sector clients in a comparable environment;
