The Leader will be responsible for managing and growing Apex’s Municipal services in the North Dakota (ND) market. A qualified candidate will be expected to develop and execute short and long-term revenue goals, monitor project budgets, recruit and hire key staff, and pursue new project and client opportunities. The Leader will report directly to Apex’s Municipal Sector Leader. The candidate will be expected to attend meetings in person with key municipal engineers and operations personnel. The Leader will be expected to be involved in promoting the company through industry specific professional organizations.\n\nEssential Tasks and Duties:\nManage all aspects of client relationships. Discuss clients potential project opportunities, details of RFPs and contract reviews.\nEstablish and maintain key strategic partnerships to effectively win work and deliver quality municipal and infrastructure design and construction services.\nCollaborate with other sector leaders within the company regarding pursuits and staffing.\nFollow and maintain strategic plan initiatives and goals for the ND municipal sector and the company.\nDemonstrate a strong ability to mentor project engineers in areas of contract development, project profitability and risk management.\nParticipate in business development and marketing activities related to municipal services with potential new clients and existing municipal clients.\nAttend appropriate conferences and professional seminars as deemed necessary to further Apex’s mission to grow ND municipal services.\nAttend professional conferences in with appropriate sector personnel, strategizing for marketing opportunities and overall exposure of Apex at related events.\nCoordinate and direct project pursuit efforts by participating in prospecting, positions, proposing and performance for specific projects that have the potential to have significant impact on the sector’s revenue.\nParticipate in municipal leadership team meetings.\nResponsible for hiring and recruiting strategic positions that meet the company or sector growth goals.\nUtilize effective communication skills required in settings such as public meetings and professional seminars, etc.\nResponsible for providing the Municipal Sector Leader with financial and progress reports on ND Municipal related operations.\nKeep abreast of the latest civil engineering technical advancements, technology, and concepts in the ND Municipal market and make recommendations to the Municipal Sector Leader as appropriate. This position will require the initiative to think independently and make rational judgment calls under the direction of the Municipal Sector Leader.\nUnderstand and follow company employee handbook and mandated safety policies.\nPerform responsibilities in a conscientious, legal, and ethical manner with a strong attention to detail.\nMust be able to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment.\nParticipate in professional organizations and community leadership programs.\nTravel and out of town stays may be required.\nThis position may frequently require more than 40-hour work weeks.\nOther duties as assigned.\nQualifications:\nA bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, with 10+ years of municipal engineering experience and a minimum of 7 years project management experience, predominantly in the State of ND.\nA licensed engineer to practice engineering within the State of ND.\nExperience and working knowledge preferred in municipal engineering, construction, and public works/utilities in ND.\nExperience and working knowledge with public agencies located in North Dakota.\nExperience with developing business and managing personnel in the consulting engineering industry is preferred.\nInvolvement in appropriate professional organizations beneficial to Apex and the municipal sector.\nProficient using Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills required.\nMust be detail orientated, self-motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.\nA valid driver’s license is required or the ability to obtain one.\nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions.\nMust be able to clearly articulate both verbal and written communications.\nRequired to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.\nMay require prolonged periods of standing and walking to perform some of the typical tasks and duties.\nMust be able to work required and scheduled hours.\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
