The role translates customer requirements and incomplete site information into buildable, cost-effective solutions; develops the associated scope, estimate, schedule assumptions and proposal; and coordinates the technical inputs required from utilities, engineering, vendors and subcontractors. Following award, the Sales & Solutions Engineer leads a disciplined handoff to Engineering and Project Management while remaining available to support scope clarification and pricing.Essential Functions:Solutions & Sales EngineeringServe as the technical lead on pursuits nationwide including but not limited to client calls, site walks, and presentations where credibility wins dealsTranslate client goals (fleet electrification, resiliency, energy cost reduction) into buildable concepts: charging and power configurations, service upgrades, load management, phasing, and alternatesDevelop conceptual budgets and feasibility assessments from limited information (utility bills, single-lines, site photos)Project DevelopmentDrive utility coordination and interconnection strategy across service territories; evaluate capacity, timeline, and cost implicationsIdentify and factor in incentives, rebates, and utility make-ready programs that improve project economicsAssess AHJ and permitting pathways while evaluating their schedule and cost impacts on each opportunity early, before they become surprisesEstimating & PreconstructionOwn estimates end-to-end: quantity takeoffs; labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing; and final bid assemblyPrice prevailing wage / Davis-Bacon and Build America, Buy America (BABA) compliant scopes alongside open-shop workSolicit, level, and negotiate vendor and subcontractor quotesPrepare clear, professional proposals with well-defined scope, clarifications, and exclusionsSupport handoff to project management and construction; assist with change order pricing; maintain the cost database and win/loss feedback loopDevelop ROM, budgetary and firm proposals, clearly identifying the level of design information supporting each estimate Develop and document assumptions, exclusions, allowances and project risksComparison of subcontractor/vendor pricing against internal historical cost data Internal estimate review prior to proposal issuanceEstimate-to-actual feedback with Project Management after award Opportunity Ownership & HandoffMaintain ownership of the technical and commercial basis of each opportunity through proposal, award, and transition to executionLead a documented handoff to Engineering and Project Management upon award, ensuring alignment on project scope, estimate, assumptions, clarifications and exclusions, subcontractor/vendor commitments, schedule assumptions, utility status, permitting strategy, and identified project risksClearly communicate outstanding technical, commercial, or scope items requiring resolution following awardRemain available during project execution to support scope clarification, estimate reconciliation, change pricing, and resolution of issues related to the original proposal and project assumptionsParticipate in estimate-to-actual reviews with Project Management to improve estimating accuracy, cost data, and future proposal developmentRequired Competencies10+ years in electrical contracting — estimating, project management, or field leadership on commercial/industrial electrical workEV charging (L2 / DCFC), BESS, solar, generation, or microgrid project experienceStrong working knowledge of the NEC, electrical means and methods, and service/distribution designProven estimating ability: takeoffs, labor units, material pricing, and margin strategyAbility to read and interpret one-line diagrams, site/civil plans, and specificationsComfort working across multiple utility territories, jurisdictions, and labor marketsProficiency with Bluebeam and estimating tools, ability to review and markup CAD/design documents; strong Excel skillsExcellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to clients and ownersA demonstrated record of creative problem solving — finding buildable, cost-effective answers where the standard approach doesn't fit·        Understanding of services, distribution systems, transformers, SLD’s and schematicsValid driver's license and willingness to travel nationally to project sites and client meetings·        Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Project, Word, and Excel Preferred QualificationsExperience with multi-site or national deployment programsMedium-voltage and utility service upgrade experienceJourneyman or master electrician license, or a degree in electrical engineering / construction managementFamiliarity with utility interconnection processes and incentive or make-ready programsExperience with CRM and construction management platforms, including hands-on Procore experience managing project documentation and workflowsWork Environment & Benefits:Pxt Infrastructure Solutions fosters a collaborative, innovative work environment where your ideas matter and your impact is visible.
