Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for day-to-day accounting tasks, including but not limited to maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, managing accounts payable and receivable, and assisting with billing and payroll journal entries.

Essential Functions:
Assist with the month-end accounting close process and financial reporting.
Record monthly accounting entries related to revenue, expenses, assets, and liabilities as assigned, such as prepaid & accruals, bank reconciliations, and reconcile donations
Assist with purchases, accounts payable, and other disbursements processing and reporting as needed.
Act as a backup to the Account Payable Specialist and help with processing vendor contracts, housing rent payments, ACH posting & tracking, P-cards management, 1099’s, new vendor setup, insurance, leases, Docuware, unclaimed property, allocations of expenses, outstanding PS payroll checks, benefit accruals and payroll JE’s
Manage building & improvement expense summary, vehicle & transportation expense summary, wages budget vs. actual by cost center by position
Serve as a backup to the industrial billing team and assist with monthly reporting and meetings
Support the Grant Accountant with grant disbursements, single audit compliance, funder backup, indirect cost rate documentation, and calculations, generate grant desk audit support, allocated grant payroll backup monthly
Assist the Senior Accountant in processing weekly/biweekly billing for assigned programs in myEvolv
Support in the preparation and processing of medical billing, including processing medical & non-medical cash receipts for assigned programs
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, and Other Qualifications
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or equivalent experience
Two years general accounting experience, preferably in the nonprofit industry
Ability to quickly learn medical billing
Excellent mathematical accuracy and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated customer service skills to maintain good internal and external working relationships
Experience with accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, and reconciliation
Ability to prioritize, organize and self-direct to meet deadlines and accomplish goals
Skill in researching/investigating and summarizing financial transactions
Ability to communicate financial information clearly and completely to stakeholders
Technology skills: past proficiency with accounting software, Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, etc.), advanced level of Excel
Reliable transportation to get to Rise office as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with medical billing
Experience in the social services industry
Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to nonprofit accounting
Experience with myEvolv
Working Conditions and Environment
Hours of Work: This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, and the hours of work are typically daytime, Monday through Friday.
Work Environment: This job operates in a hybrid work environment and is expected to work from an assigned Rise office at least one day a week.
Physical Demands: Able to enter data and sit at a computer for up to 8 hours per day.
