As we grow to achieve that mission, we're looking to add highly technical and mission-driven engineers to lead our efforts.\nWhat You'll Do\nBuild the foundation of the Descript web and desktop (Electron) apps\nBuild design systems to support UX consistency across products\nTake shared ownership of the release and packaging process of the app and websites\nHelp define and improve methods to test our product surfaces; this includes e2e playwright and performance testing\nWork closely with engineers from product teams across Descript, understanding their productivity and feature pain points and building solutions to resolve them\nBuild & maintain standards for data fetching and client side state\nProvide mentorship, including to your more senior counterparts in your particular areas of expertise\nWhat You Bring\n5+ years of professional software development experience\nExperience in maintaining and improving large scale monorepos\nExperience configuring and extending modern Javascript tooling\nExperience writing design systems in React and using tools like Radix and react-aria\nProficiency in modern technologies such as Typescript/Javascript/React/node.js\nCustomer obsession - you care about providing a good user experience and ensure you fully understand user needs before diving into engineering solutions\nGood judgment in making tradeoffs to balance velocity and quality\nNice to Have:\nElectron experience\nAt our current size and stage, we embrace a flat organizational structure and value the expertise and contributions of every team member. As such, we have a unified job title for our engineering roles where everyone, including those with Staff-level scope, is considered a Software Engineer. While titles may not change, we are actively seeking senior and above Software Engineers to join our team.\nThe base salary range for this role is $170,000-$230,000/year.
