We pride ourselves on a work environment dedicated to mutual respect where trust and team spirit are an integral part of our daily routine.\nThe Molecular Technologist III position serves as a technical expert within the laboratory. Responsible for performing the most complex clinical assays and serves as the primary technical trainer for junior staff. Leads special projects related to assay optimization through experimentation and collaborative research with other scientific staff and leadership. Participates in technical transfer of new assays from R&D staff into the clinical laboratory. Performs advanced troubleshooting on instrumentation and methodologies and liaises with vendors on applicable methodologies. Manages assigned technical area inventory and technical procedures. Presents updates, reports, and scientific demonstrations to laboratory staff. Supports administrative tasks as needed related to the assigned laboratory area.\nDuties & Responsibilities:\nPerforms high complexity clinical assays according to written SOPs\nAdheres to departmental policies and procedures to include quality control, quality assurance, and safety\nContributes to general laboratory functions by keeping a neat work area, attending meetings, and complying with laboratory procedures and safety practices\nAnalyzes reviews, and reports test and quality control results and takes remedial action when indicated\nEnters and verifies data within the clinical LIMS system\nReviews and Signs out laboratory reports as assigned\nMaintain analytical instruments, schedules authorized routine service, and maintains instrument documentation\nParticipates in process improvement workgroups as assigned\nWorks on complex projects with minimal supervision\nCreates and validates in-house control materials\nTrains and assesses personnel competency\nWorks independently or as a team on process improvement projects as assigned by management\nCompletes other duties as assigned by lab management\nEdits/Drafts technical SOPs and provides detail and content for new procedures\nWrites detailed reports and summaries\nMonitors laboratory data systems, conducts statistical metric analysis\nMakes recommendations for process improvement to management\nCompletes proficiency testing online entries and alternative assessment reports\nConducts internal process audits as assigned\nAssists in completion of self-inspection checklists as delegated by management\nFiles documentation associated with daily production runs\nAssist with maintaining laboratory supply and inventory\nEducation and Experience:\nEducation:\nB.S. degree in Medical Technology or Chemical, Biological, or Physical Science AND five years of pertinent laboratory experience\nOR an M.S. degree in Medical Technology or Chemical, Biological, or Physical Science AND three years of pertinent laboratory experience\nLicensure and Certifications:\nRequired\nN/A\nPreferred\nCertified as Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Molecular Biology by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) OR equivalent certification\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nExperience with CLIA regulated clinical laboratory policies, goals, and objectives\nGood communication skills and ability to collaborate within diverse groups\nTechnical expertise on high complexity methodologies\nWorks with initiative, independence, and demonstrates good judgment\nAbility to understand and follow implemented written procedures and verbal instructions\nIndependently able to collect and analyze data using graphs, tables, charts, and mathematical calculations and write accurate and concise reports and procedures.\nAdvanced computer skills including MS Excel, Word, Outlook, & PowerPoint\nBasic understanding of VBA coding\nOperational knowledge of complex lab automation and networked lab systems\nAbility to work with frequent interruptions and fluctuations in workload\nAbility to handle multiple priorities and manage stress appropriately\nScheduled Weekly Hours:\n40\nWork Shift:\nJob Category:\nLaboratory Operations\nCompany:\nSonic Reference Laboratory, Inc\nSonic Healthcare USA is an equal opportunity employer that celebrates diversity and is committed to an inclusive workplace for all employees.
