Material HandlerThe material handler supports day-to-day shipping and receiving operations on the day shift, ensuring that all orders are processed accurately and on time. This role combines hands-on warehouse activities with administrative tasks such as documentation, email communication, and basic computer work. The successful candidate delivers reliable logistics support, maintains organized inventory flow, and provides responsive service to both internal teams and external customers in a fast-paced environment.ResponsibilitiesHandle daily shipping and receiving tasks, ensuring timely and accurate processing of all incoming and outgoing orders.Verify shipment details, quantities, and documentation to maintain accuracy and compliance with shipping requirements.Prepare, organize, and maintain shipping documentation using Excel and email tools.Operate stand-up and sit-down forklifts safely to move, load, and unload materials as needed.Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient workspace to support smooth logistics operations.Communicate clearly and professionally with team members, carriers, and customers to coordinate shipments and resolve issues.Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders by responding promptly to inquiries and requests.Support bilingual communication needs by assisting in more than one language when required.Use computer systems to track inventory, update records, and support shipping and receiving activities.Ensure adherence to shipping regulations, internal procedures, and safety guidelines at all times.Assist with general warehouse and administrative duties as required to support overall operations.Essential SkillsPrevious experience in a warehouse, shipping, or receiving role.Hands-on experience handling shipping and receiving tasks in a fast-paced environment.Ability to operate stand-up and sit-down forklifts safely and efficiently.Strong customer service skills with a focus on responsiveness and professionalism.Proficiency using computers, including email and basic Excel for documentation and tracking.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing documentation and inventory flow.Effective verbal and written communication skills with team members and customers.Ability to multitask and prioritize work to meet deadlines and manage multiple shipments.Capability to work independently and as part of a team in a logistics or warehouse environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsSAP experience for inventory or shipping processes (nice to have, not required).Experience working in a bilingual environment and communicating in more than one language.Familiarity with shipping regulations and standard warehouse safety practices.Comfort working with logistics documentation and basic administrative tasks.Why Work Here?You will join a stable operation with a consistent weekday schedule and the opportunity to develop both logistics and administrative skills. Initially, the role operates on the second shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. As of June 1st, the schedule transitions to five 8-hour shifts from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The work takes place in a warehouse and logistics environment that involves frequent interaction with shipping and receiving areas, material handling equipment, and computer workstations. You will regularly use stand-up and sit-down forklifts, computers, email, and Excel to complete daily tasks. The environment is fast-paced and requires consistent attention to safety, organization, and teamwork.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Machesney Park, IL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
