This engineer will support multiple product areas, collaborate with engineering and product leadership, and help the team become more generalized across the stack.\r\nThis is a long-term contractor opportunity suited for someone energetic, adaptable, and eager to own their work.\r\nWhat You Will Do\r\nBuild features across the full stack , including UI, APIs, backend services, and cloud functions.\r\nWork with React and TypeScript for front-end applications.\r\nDevelop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot .\r\nOperate within a containerized environment (OpenShift).\r\nContribute to Thrivent's shift toward AWS cloud-native architecture , including Lambda-based processing and event-driven designs.\r\nWork with Kafka for messaging and event pipelines.\r\nParticipate in production monitoring , troubleshooting, and support activities.\r\nCollaborate within Agile teams to deliver enhancements supporting the customersadvisor and customer-facing products.\r\nWork closely with product owners and engineers to understand product goals and contribute ideas.\r\nTake ownership—ask questions, understand the \"why,\" and act as an engaged member of the team.\r\nRequired Skills & Experience\r\n2–5+ years of software engineering experience (open to mid-level candidates up to ~7 years).\r\nHands-on experience with TypeScript and Java .\r\nExperience with or familiarity in at least one of the following\r\nReact\r\nJava/Spring Boot\r\nAWS services (Lambda, cloud-native concepts)\r\nEvent-driven pipelines (Kafka)\r\nContainerized environments (OpenShift/Kubernetes)\r\nAbility to work across the stack and learn unfamiliar areas quickly.\r\nUnderstanding of Agile development practices.\r\nStrong communication skills with the ability to articulate ideas and ask meaningful questions.\r\nCuriosity about the product, business context, and customer impact.\r\nIL & MN Benefits Verbiage: Upon completion of waiting period consultants are eligible for:\r\nMedical and Prescription Drug Plans\r\nDental Plan\r\nVision Plan\r\nHealth Savings Account\r\nHealth Flexible Spending Account\r\nDependent Care Flexible Spending Account\r\nSupplemental Life Insurance\r\nShort Term and Long-Term Disability Insurance\r\nBusiness Travel Insurance\r\n401(k)\r\nIf this is a role that interests you and you'd like to learn more, click apply now and a recruiter will be in touch with you to discuss this great opportunity.
