This role owns technical implementation of services, APIs, and modernization refactoring initiatives that directly support the transition from legacy monolithic systems to modular, Azure-hosted solutions.\nThe Senior AppDev Engineer plays a critical role in elevating engineering quality, supporting DevOps maturity, and contributing to architectural discussions. This position bridges strategic modernization objectives with detailed technical execution, ensuring new and refactored components are secure, scalable, observable, and production-ready.\nIn addition to delivery responsibility, this role helps elevate team capability by mentoring engineers, participating in code reviews, and reinforcing modernization and cloud-native development standards.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nDesign and implement .NET 8+ features and services aligned to program architecture standards.\nLead refactoring of legacy modules into modern layered/service-oriented patterns.\nBuild secure, maintainable REST APIs and integration components.\nImplement data access modernization using EF Core and optimized SQL design patterns.\nParticipate in design reviews and provide peer code reviews to enforce engineering standards.\nContribute to CI/CD maturity through pipeline improvements, deployment reliability, and release readiness practices.\nCollaborate with QA to ensure testability, defect prevention, and regression protection.\nSupport resiliency/DR improvements through implementation and validation support activities.\nProvide coaching and guidance to AppDev Engineers; help raise team capability and consistency.\nDevelop or contribute to the technical backlog, epics and user stories in conjunction with the architect. May be asks to perform the technical product owner role.\nOther responsibilities as assigned by management.\nMINIMUM SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE\nBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.\n7+ years professional software engineering experience in enterprise application development.\nStrong hands-on experience with C#, ASP.NET Core, .NET 6–8, and Web API development.\nExperience delivering Azure-hosted applications using Azure App Services and Azure SQL (or equivalent).\nStrong experience with EF Core (or comparable ORM) and SQL Server fundamentals (indexes, query optimization).\nExperience using Azure DevOps (or similar) with Git branching, pull requests, and CI/CD concepts.\nWorking knowledge of secure coding practices and authentication/authorization implementation patterns.\nDemonstrated ability to estimate and deliver work independently with minimal supervision.\nPREFERRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE\nExperience with Azure Functions, API Management, App Configuration/Key Vault, distributed caching, or messaging.\nExperience with performance testing and tuning across API + database layers.\nExperience with observability tooling (App Insights, Log Analytics, dashboards, alerting).\nFront-end modernization experience using React/Vue/Angular.\nParticipation in cloud migration/modernization programs involving multi-application portfolios.\nAt Ascend Technologies we firmly believe that diversity, equity, and inclusion are not only fundamental values but also powerful drivers of innovation, growth, and success.
