This position ensures that once a specimen is entered into the LIS, it is then properly routed through the laboratory based on physicians' orders. The specimen processor follows the direction of the supervisor while taking initiative in performing and promoting quality and efficiency within the department.\nMajor Responsibilities\nEntering patient demographics into the computer system\nPreparation of labs, labels, and bottles for each patient\nEnsuring all required items are set up prior to the time of a procedure\nAssisting with collection of specimens and routing to the lab\nSubmitting orders and accessioning of order once received by surgery center staff\nCreation of manifests, packaging of specimens, and routing to courier\nOrdering and stocking formalin bottles, empty bottles for frozen sections, bags, culture swabs and other supplies\nPreviewing pathology reports for accuracy.
