About the City of BlairThe City of Blair is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Community Development Director to lead the City's planning, zoning, permitting, redevelopment, and community growth initiatives. This leadership position plays a key role in shaping the future of Blair through strategic planning, redevelopment opportunities, and customer-focused development services. Located just 20 miles north of the Omaha metro area, Blair is a growing and vibrant community of nearly 8,000 residents that offers the advantages of a close-knit community.As a member of the City's executive leadership team, the Community Development Director works collaboratively with City leadership, developers, businesses, residents, and regional partners to support responsible growth and long-range community development efforts.What You'll DoLead community development operations, including planning, zoning, permitting, and redevelopment activitiesOversee land use applications, development proposals, and redevelopment projectsSupervise and support department staffCoordinate updates to planning documents, zoning regulations, and redevelopment initiativesWork closely with developers, contractors, businesses, and community stakeholdersPresent recommendations and updates to City Council, Planning Commission, and other boards or committeesPromote efficient, transparent, and customer-focused development servicesEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Community Planning, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Business Management, or a related field requiredMinimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in community development, planning, redevelopment, development services, or municipal administrationMinimum of three (3) years of supervisory or management experienceAICP certification preferredKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong leadership and organizational skillsExcellent communication and relationship-building abilitiesKnowledge of municipal planning, zoning, redevelopment, and land use principlesAbility to manage multiple priorities and projects effectivelyStrong customer service and problem-solving skillsWhy Join the City of Blair?Opportunity to help shape the future growth and development of a thriving communityCollaborative and professional work environmentMeaningful leadership role with visible community impactCompetitive compensation and benefits packageThe approved pay range for this position is $99,091.20 – $116,812.80 annually.
