This is one of the exclusive positions that we have not found a match for in our database.Job Description:Developer/Programmer/Analyst to analyze current Mainframe systems (COBOL/CICS, JCL, VSAM) and document system logic. The individual will work with the business team to understand the business need and how the current code correlates to the same, document the system and ‘to-be’ status of what would be needed. Current team works on an Agile methodology so there will be daily stand-up meetings, PI planning, Retro reviews and other meetings related to Scrum. The normal SDLC development is followed, and the individual is expected to support and follow the same.This is a Federal or State position so any past experience in such a field is HIGHLY preferred but not required.Required Skills:Demonstrated through prior experience the ability to:The role is more of a Senior COBOL Developer / Analyst.Understand business requirements, analyze the system, design, and document a solution and present it for approvals.Perform Mainframe programming with COBOL, VSAM, Panvalet, MVS JCL and PROCs.Demonstrated ability to effectively use third party tools and system utilities.Build solutions that cross multiple compute platforms (Mainframe CICS/Batch jobs and MS Windows servers) using batch processing techniques.Implement data models as needed using VSAM datasets.Testing and documenting results – verify and debug through Expediter.Creating both design and testing documentation and present the same to the requestors and/or team for approval.Migrate system changes into production after approvals by following the processes and version controls currently in place.Attention to details is a must – some of the programs and jobs have not changed in a very long time and so analysis without any documentation may become necessary.Trace and document data system logic and flows by reading & analyzing JCL, COBOL programs, CICS definitions, and 3rd party utility control cards, Easytrieve, IDCAMS, SYNCSORT and other common mainframe data manipulation processes.Extracting and documenting Business Rules embedded in Mainframe programs, third party utilities, and other data manipulation products.
