As a Scientist I in technology development, you will be primarily responsible for nanoelectronic measurements critical to our core technology. You will run day-to-day experiments to measure the electrical properties of nanoelectrode semiconductor devices interfaced with biomolecules in aqueous environments. The ideal candidate is a rigorous and detail-oriented experimentalist with a strong understanding of electron transfer and transport physics at nanoelectrode devices.\nResponsibilities\nPerform quality control of as-received semiconductor devices using optical and electrical characterization methods.\nPerform low-noise, high frequency, electrical measurements on nanoelectrode devices to characterize picoampere to nanoampere range currents in aqueous environments.\nIndependently process and analyze experimental data to determine next experimental steps and effectively communicate these results to team members and the wider company.\nUtilize an understanding of electron transfer in nanoelectrode devices to create simple models that guide experimental design.\nPerform surface functionalization of nanoelectrode devices using protocols developed by the surface chemistry team.\nInterface with engineering teams to optimize experimental setups to enable high throughput electrical testing of devices.\nMaintain detailed and meticulous records of all experimental work and analysis.\nQualifications\nMaster’s degree with >5 years of relevant industry experience, or a PhD with 0-3 years of experience in Physics, Materials Science, Physical Chemistry, Nanotechnology or a closely related field.\nDeep, hands-on experience performing low-noise, high frequency, nanoelectronic measurements on semiconductor chips; ideally in aqueous environments.\nStrong understanding of electron transfer and electron transport physics in nanoelectrode devices.\nExperience with electrochemistry techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, AC voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy as well as bipotentiostat measurements.\nStrong data analysis and scripting experience are highly desirable.\nHands on experience in performing surface chemistry on semiconductor devices is desirable.\nMust be a creative and detail-oriented person with excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.\nExceptional collaboration skills and ability to work seamlessly in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.\nExperience working in the biotech or semiconductor industry is desirable.\nPhysical Demands & Work Environment\nWork will be performed onsite in office and laboratory space located in South San Francisco.\nMobility: Must be able to move about the laboratory and office environment regularly. This includes standing and walking for extended periods, often up to 6–8 hours per day.\nManual Dexterity: Must have fine motor skills and steady hands to handle delicate instruments, operate laboratory equipment, pipette accurately, and perform repetitive benchwork with precision.\nLifting/Carrying: Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds occasionally, such as boxes of lab supplies or equipment.\nVisual Acuity: Must have sufficient visual acuity to read small print on labels, instrument displays, and computer monitors. Close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus are required.\nEnvironmental Conditions: Frequently exposed to typical laboratory conditions, including biological samples, chemicals, and reagents.
