The company's culture and core values focus on safety, integrity, teamwork and excellence.\n\nSUMMARY\nThe Welding Program Engineer works in the Strategic Engineering department in the Engineering Programs section. This individual is responsible for the preparation, implementation, and maintenance of the welding program that promotes equipment reliability and assures compliance with regulations and commitments. The Welding Program Engineer also provides technical oversight to personnel performing planning and implementing welding activities.\n\nEXPERIENCE\n\nEngineering levels will be commensurate with the candidate’s educational background, relevant technical experience (including engineering, maintenance, and operations), nuclear power experience, and overall qualifications.\n\nWorking knowledge of ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, AWS D9.1, ASME III Subsection NX-4000 and NX-5000, ASME Section XI, ASME/ANSI B31.1, API 1104 and ASME Section VIII (Preferred).\n\nLICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS\n\nCurrent or previous American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification (Preferred).\n\nESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nEnsures program scope and activities comply with changes in regulations and industry guidance.\n\nResponsible for the preparation, implementation, and maintenance of the site welding program.\n\nInterfaces with the Projects and Maintenance departments to provide technical oversight of welding activities.\n\nPrepares and maintains program reports and procedures for record retention as required by regulation.\n\nParticipates in industry activities including user groups, training, program self-assessments, benchmarking, and ASME Code Meetings as applicable.\n\nAssesses, monitors, and communicates the health of programs. Advocates for the needs and continued improvement of assigned programs using forums such as management presentations and health reports.\n\nMaintains the weld database for database improvements and revisions.\n\nProvides technical oversight for testing/verification of new models of welding equipment.\n\nMonitors welding and mock-up activities being performed by specialty welding contractors on and off site.\n\nOTHER RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nAccept Emergency Response Organization (ERO) position as needed.\n\nAccept outage position as needed.\n\nAbility to obtain and maintain unescorted access.\n\nSuccessfully complete General Employee Training (GET) as required for position.\n\nEnvironmental & Physical Requirements\n\nEnvironmental and physical requirements are subject to crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up to 30 lbs; ascending/descending stairs; sitting for extended periods of time; and spending considerable time in front of computer monitors.\n\nWORKING CONDITIONS\n\nOvertime and alternate work schedules as needed.\n\nSubject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.\n\nTravel may be required.\n\nMay be required to carry a phone.\n\nWORK LOCATION\n\nSite – Due to the nature of the work, this position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site.\n\nSTP is an equal employment and affirmative action employer and is committed to nondiscrimination in all matters relating to employment throughout the organization.
