This role is hands-on, working in the lab with prototype boards, CPUs, GPUs, and memory subsystems to ensure high-performance, reliable gaming experiences. You will collaborate across silicon, firmware, and platform teams to debug complex issues and deliver robust solutions for gamers and developers worldwide.\r\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\r\n\r\nSystem & Platform Leadership\r\nDefine and own system specifications for gaming platforms, including CPUs, GPUs, memory, I/O adapters, and power management.\r\nLead cross-functional teams through all phases of hardware development-from design and bring-up to validation and production.\r\nCoordinate with silicon, firmware, and platform teams to ensure feature alignment and timely delivery.\r\nSilicon Debug & Validation\r\nOwn post-silicon validation and debug for gaming and workstation boards.\r\nPerform board-level analysis: power sequencing, thermal testing, and signal integrity.\r\nUse advanced lab tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers) for root-cause analysis.\r\nDevelop and execute comprehensive test plans for BIOS, drivers, silicon features, and OS certification.\r\nDrive defect prioritization and resolution plans during SOC bring-up and production phases.\r\nTechnical Innovation\r\nDevelop scripts and tools to automate hardware validation and improve test efficiency.\r\nEngage in pre-silicon emulation, simulation, and product engineering to ensure readiness for manufacturing and launch.\r\nCustomer & Partner Engagement\r\nCollaborate with OEM/ODM partners on hardware integration and co-validation.\r\nReview platform designs against gaming workload requirements and optimize configurations.\r\nRelease & Delivery\r\nSign off on synchronized hardware releases for internal and external delivery.\r\nOversee test execution and debug leadership across multiple platforms and teams.\r\n\r\nREQUIRED TECH SKILLS\r\n\r\nStrong experience in silicon bring-up and post-silicon debug.\r\nHands-on proficiency with lab equipment for electrical and thermal testing.\r\nDeep knowledge of system architecture: x86 CPUs, GPUs, DDR5 memory, PCIe Gen5, and power management.\r\nFamiliarity with firmware flashing, BIOS configuration, and hardware validation methodologies.\r\nProgramming/scripting skills (Python, C/C++, Perl) for automation.\r\nUnderstanding of pre-silicon emulation, tapeout processes, and manufacturing test.\r\n\r\nPREFERRED EXPERIENCE\r\n\r\nBackground in gaming platforms, high-performance computing, or workstation hardware.\r\nExpertise in SOC-level validation, IP debug, and performance optimization.\r\nFamiliarity with Microsoft and Linux OS, virtualization (VMware, Xen), and certification processes.\r\nExcellent communication and leadership skills for cross-functional collaboration.\r\nIndustry experience, with focused on system or platform engineering and integration for gaming or high-performance hardware.\r\n\r\nACADEMIC CREDENTIALS\r\n\r\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.\r\n*\r\n\r\nLOCATION\r\nAustin, TX\r\nThis role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.\r\nLI-KW1\r\nBenefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.\r\nAMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
