We embrace our employees’ differences and acknowledge and support our collective responsibility.\n\nAbout the Position\n\nThe Material Handler unloads donations from containers and moves goods to appropriate production areas.\n\nPay Rate: $20.77/hour\n\nWork Environment:\nOutdoors and warehouse environment, temperature varies, exposure to dust.\n\nEssential Functions and Responsibilities:\n\nRemove and sort through salvage material and garbage from salable goods.\nSort donations into appropriate bins for further processing.\nProvide a smooth flow of goods to the production floor.\nUse cardboard compactors and identify problems.\nMaintain donor tallies.\nMaintain a clean work environment.\nDemonstrate safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture and report any potential hazards or accidents.\nBuild and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.\nIf applicable: Consistent and safe execution of duties associated with forklift operation when certified to Seattle Goodwill standards.\nMinors: Are not allowed to use or perform any job duties with any heavy machinery or compactors.\nMaintain reliable attendance.\nAble to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills.\nOther duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.\n\nEducation and Experience:\n\nHigh school graduate or equivalency preferred, but not required\nNo experience required\nApplicants must be 18 years or older\nCertificates, Licenses, or Registrations:\nIf applicable to job role: Seattle Goodwill Forklift certification optional, must meet eligibility requirements\n\nPhysical Abilities:\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to lift and carry up to 30-40 pounds; have developed fine motor control (grasp, handle, manipulate objects with fingers; standing for long periods, frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing; climbing ladders; able to travel across a variety of surfaces (stairs, ramps, uneven terrain).\n\nEssential Mental/Sensory Abilities:\n\nOrganizing, sorting, categorizing, counting, adding, subtracting\nProblem Solving\nCommunicating with the public\nVerbal and written communication skills\nPosition Requirements (Qualifications for the job under the Americans with Disabilities Act)\n\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
