In this role, the R&D Engineer II will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to understand customer requirements and accomplish development objectives. To be considered for this position, successful candidates must have an in-depth understanding of finite element method and related computational mechanics principles, strong programming skills, adequate academic or industrial experience in the related fields, and ability to work efficiently in a collaborative team environment.\nKey Duties and Responsibilities Performs moderately complex development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systems\nUnderstands and employs best practices\nPerforms moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions\nUnderstands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues\nWorks under the general supervision of a development manager\nMinimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of professional experience, or Master's Degree in Aerospace, Biomechanical, Mechanical Engineering, or other natural science discipline\nWorking experience with technical software development proven by academic, research, or industry projects. Good understanding and skills in programming.\nPreferred candidates will be located in, or willing to relocate to, Livermore, CA.\nPreferred Qualifications and Skills Master's Degree or PhD Preferred\nTechnical knowledge and experience with finite element simulation (e.g. LS-DYNA, Ansys), and CAD modeling.\nBackground in computational solid mechanics, numerical methods, and preferably on high-performance computing on C/GPUs.\nKnowledge of fluid mechanics, electromagnetics, computational geometry, or computer graphics is an advantage but not a must.\nExperience with Fortran or C\nGood communication and interpersonal skills\nAbility to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team\n#LI-TS5\nAt Synopsys, we want talented people of every background to feel valued and supported to do their best work.
